Regarding the charge that was over-ruled. I understand about the arc and the defender's foot was in the arc so there was no charge. But after they over-turned the charge, why was it a foul on the UT player? I could see giving Savannah St. the ball (as a dead ball) but not an automatic foul on the defender.

If there's contact and a whistle, it has to either be a block or a charge.

A whistle is a big sh@@ sandwich, and someone has to take a bite

Thanks for the replies. I just find it odd that it has to be a foul if it isn't a charge. But StoVol very clearly explained the rationale! Classic.

It is odd, if it's a charge six inches out, then being in the circle by an inch doesnt mean the guy didn't charge, I don't think it should be called a block.. Stupid rule IMO.. Rules favor the offense in every sport now.. Devalues defense

Why not review every single play......that way they will never miss any calls
There is no set rule for all replay reviews. Just subjective is all I'm saying. If they miss so many calls it gets to that then do be it. No consistency.

You can't defend the basket by standing under it. That's the point of the arc, as I understand it.

Bleeding, what is the deal with video review? Any official mandatory reviews in NCAA

They should review any call that is questionable, or impacts the game in a crucial way. As we have seen(sec tourney) they don't do that, and it is referree's discretion.

I'd like to see a sub 2 minute challenge rule for coaches to use. They get 2 in the final 2 minutes, if they're right they don't lose the challenge and if they're wrong they lose a to.

I'm with you on this bTNo..The only thing different with that thought for me would be to give each team 1 challenge per half, but with no TO penalty if wrong..With so many more plays in BB than FB it would make it easier to do without interrupting the flow of the game..

What do you mean, like any play they MUST review?
Pretty much. I think last second shots are a review but could be wrong. Any others? It seems really odd to just leave it up to ole Teddy Valentine to review a call he may have blown

Yea and even those don't have to be reviewed, it's just the refs call.

IMO as I've stated, coaches should get maybe 1 or 2 challenges a half, and if they're right they retain the challenge if they're wrong they lose a to.

At least one a game. I mean the video is right there on the court.

And I don't know if this annoys others, but I can't figure out why they use freaking 10" black/white Tvs half the time(slight exaggeration).

Give them like a 20" HD TV, geez. They freaking get 2" away trying to figure out what happened.

The thing that bugged me the most about the Ole Miss game was they went back and overturned Maymon's charge and made it a double foul (wtf was that anyways?) but then wouldn't review the ball off the Ole Miss players head at the end of the game. It doesn't make any sense to me.

the rule is this simple(yet not logical)

if either ref doesnt "KNOW" what the call is then they can review it. the block/charge neither official was sure of the call so they went to the monitor.

in the out of bounds call, that ref was "SURE" of the call and made no motion to even talk about the call. he was dead set that is was 100% correct.

on another note: has anyone heard anything from that official or the sec about that call?
