Rumblings of Mike Leach to UF as OC

For Florida being such an awesome coaching job , that every coach in the country is dying to get, they are having some difficulties putting a staff together.

If Leach goes there and doesn't freak all the players out with his love for pirates and the fact he is just plain weird, their offense could be very good.

I'm guessing Muschamp said there's "no timetable" on putting together a staff has something to do with several candidates preparing for bowl games.

I heard ESPN commentators the other day ripping on WV becuase they hired a coach to start next season but were keeping the retiring head coach for the bowl. They thought it was confusing for the kids and not a smart move. Not heard them say the same on UF.

This would contradict all reports of muschamp looking for a pro style offensive coordinator

In a sense.

Every play was copied from Norm Chow and Doug Scovil. Leach has jacked up splits and 100% gun. Want to guess who Muschamp was the DC for at Valdosta State? Current Murray State and former KY/GA Southern Air Raid deciple Chris Hatcher.

Could have something to do with coaches preparing for bowl games, buy hey, lets not be sensible.

Who are the top candidates for coordinators? At least what you are hearing.

I've heard all sorts of names....from Norm Chow to Kerwin Bell to Major Applewhite. I doubt there will be much movement on this until after the bowl games.

I don't know if Mike Leach is a good fit.

Yeah this rumor makes no sense on so many levels. Actually, it seems that alot of the names rumored for OC aren't remotely considered pro-style OCs.

WV hired a coach and is keeping the current coach around for all of next season, not just the bowl game. Not to mention, he's "retiring" about as much as Phil "retired" from the Vols. It should make for an awkward 2011 in WV.

Aren't we in a dead period for recruiting or atleast right up to it? If so, that may have as much to do with the slow timing for getting a staff together as anything. I think Leach at FL with the talent FL gets could be lethal to the SEC. I don't think of it as bad for us though since it would only make us get even stronger in order to beat them.

Does Florida even have a containment shed?

Didn't realize he would be around next year too. That is confusing.

Don't know much about Leach's ego, but would wonder if a tenured head coach like him might have some difficulty working for a first-time head coach.

You have to imagine Leach has aspirations to be a head coach again, so it wouldn't appear to be more than a one or two season solution for Muschamp anyway.

Seems like oil and water on paper.

CWM could hire coach Jim Leavit for DC along w Leach on offense. Those two will eliminate discipline issues at UF.
