I'm pretty sure its basically a done deal. Most of the Smyrna coaches have been interviewing at other schools looking to secure a job. The offensive coordinator, Steve Carson, just got the head coachinng job at Eagleville High School.
A done deal? Do you know that even when rankin was at Riverdale he was "going" to leave about every year? He gets his name out there (which is smart) and raises his own stock at his current job. All the talk a couple of years ago was about how Rankin and his fam hate the congestion of Mboro and the large schools that come with it. Rankin wanted a smaller town and a smaller program and went to Alcoa. For those of you that don't know, Rankin does not need to work at all, he has some serious family money. Also, Alcoa was young this year. They will easily win state at 2A in 2008 unless the players quit. Nobody touched them this year (Besides 4A Maryville) and they will be much stronger next year. So again; why would Rankin leave?
Step back. Take a deep breath. Re-read my post and the ones before it. My post was about the coach at Smyrna going to MTCS. I did not make one mention of Rankin changing jobs. I have no information on Rankin. I would assume he is staying at Alcoa with all the young talent they have.
Last I heard was Rankin to Smyrna or Blackman. A coach at Lavergne told me Shadowens could coach girls b-ball at MTCS since his girls play there. Apparently he coached a lot of girls ball during the summer.
