Even with those buyouts, we have generated close to $200MM more in revenue than USC over the past decade....
And how much more in buyouts have we paid? Include Currie and all assistants as well. Off top of my head, we have:
Dooley and his staff
Jones and his staff
Fulmer and his staff
Cuonzo and his staff
Tyndall and his staff
Hollie and her staff
Previous baseball coach and his staff
And add in all the assistant coaches Dooley, Jones and Pruitt has fired that we had to buyout.

The wastefulness has just finally come home to roost.

Tyndall was fired for cause...no buyout. Cuonzo left for Cal...I think we got money from that.

Cuonzo left on his own, Tyndall fired for cause, Hollie's was fairly small.

These buyouts are a small number compared to revenue difference...

In fairness to Fulmer, Sexton will not agree to an offset clause for his clients. Butch had different representation when his deal was negotiated. As a practical matter, UTAD could've stopped paying Butch a couple of years ago and argued willful underemployment in a TN state court if Butch tried to sue. We got no balls up there.

I'm not sure about that. Pruitt is only HC without any offset mitigation and Sexton has 11/14 SEC coaches...

How can they afford to fire a coach but we can't?

Before you say Butch buyout, those payments end early next year and we generate 8 figures more revenue annually...
Because that isn't true and only said by people who don't know anything about money.

Butch's buyout was already written off. That money is basically in escrow and has zero to do with the current balance sheet, although it makes a good excuse to not do anything when talking with people who haven't bothered to look into it.

I'll stick to my line earlier. We may not be able to afford firing Pruitt but I'm damn sure we cant afford to keep him.

There is no excuse how USCe can afford to pay a larger buyout while we cant given how much more revenue we generate. Buyouts are only a small % of revenue difference over the past decade.

I'm honestly trying to figure out how he got hired at SC in the first place.

Mac won 10 games and the East in year 1 with his players. Maybe SC thought that he could build a program and just made some bad personnel choices in Gainesville. Or that at the very least he would leave the next guy something to work with.

If Muschamp hadn't gone 11-2 in his second year at Florida, his career win percentage would be a hair less than 48%. He only breaks 50% because of that one season. South Carolina gave him a lot of leeway. I'm not surprised that they've decided to act. I am surprised they've decided to act in the middle of all this pandemic nonsense. Crazy times. Crazier to think that he somehow had Tennessee's number in the midst of all that mediocrity. Or, maybe it's not crazy. Maybe it's just disappointing. Eh.

The trepidation from fans and the AD, in my opinion, is that firing Pruitt and getting a no splash nobody unknown hire just compounds the problems. Everyone here knows (they should) that you can s@@t can Pruitt and hire a known commodity with proven results and you'll get a good, maybe great return on investment. Since Fulmer the UT ROI on coaching hires has been a flaming bag of poo.
