Rumor out of Columbia Muschamp is out [Confirmed]

Mac won 10 games and the East in year 1 with his players. Maybe SC thought that he could build a program and just made some bad personnel choices in Gainesville. Or that at the very least he would leave the next guy something to work with.

His record at Florida.

7-6
11-2
4-8
6-5

His offenses were ranked 105th in 2011, 104th in 2012, 115th in 2013, and 96th in 2014.

It's almost impossible to be that consistently bad on one side of the ball, particularly at Florida. What he has added to his repertoire is to have a defense as terrible as his offenses usually are.

I saw the Indiana game and they flashed a graphic that Indiana had 22 players from Florida. The guys who all the big guns pass on can still produce at a higher level than what was happening. Ditto the current state at FSU. It's not possible to be that bad at FSU unless someone is trying.

I am willing to bet that if he has been fired, they go after Freeze

If so, we will be screwed again while we wait to see if Pruitt can coach

Last year Muschamp had a "buy out" of $17 million - this is now probably reduced to well over $10 million...still very costly.

The trepidation from fans and the AD, in my opinion, is that firing Pruitt and getting a no splash nobody unknown hire just compounds the problems. Everyone here knows (they should) that you can s@@t can Pruitt and hire a known commodity with proven results and you'll get a good, maybe great return on investment. Since Fulmer the UT ROI on coaching hires has been a flaming bag of poo.

I agree here. If we fire Pruitt and replace him with bargain bin hire #6 (counting Schiano here), that would be stupid.

If Fulmer is able to find out that a proven winner wants to come here, then yes, we should pull the plug on Beldar

Smart move by the Garnet and Black as they can get their opening out their first and get their pick of whose agents they want to talk to first, Freeze will be in the mix but Chadwell and Napier bring familiarity and connections to South Carolina that have an intangible value but will complement the instate recruiting right away, could be two more openings in the SEC and another 6 or 8 across the power five conferences, if you are done, get the position open and on the radar screen, don't wait until the field gets crowded with the competition for a hire

How can they afford to fire a coach but we can't?

Before you say Butch buyout, those payments end early next year and we generate 8 figures more revenue annually...

We have fired several lately: Holly, Butch, Serrano, etc.

I don't think we are ready to fire CJP. But several position coaches will be on the hot seat to include Weinke and LB coaches. I have a hard time understanding why the DBs regressed so much this year but I know Ansley had them playing well last season. I also think Will Friend is on the bubble, maybe Chaney too. Jay Graham and Tee should be safe. Nieds is a great recruiter so if he is a liability at LB coach, he will shift back to TEs/Special teams.

I do think in the off-season we will morph towards a spread offense much like bama, Ole Miss and florida.

Yall act like Muschamp wasn’t set up to fail from the word go.

Spurrier was the best thing to ever happen at SCar and they assumed he’d pick right where Steve left off. He was never going to be that guy and the administration should have known that.

Not only that but Spurrier let the team go to shite the last couple of years there with terrible recruiting and he just quit on the team.

The day after he gave up 700 yards is maybe not the best time to sell this?
Not selling anything, just getting opinions. I've actually heard it mentioned among UGA folks who are thinking their DC will get of Group of 5 Head job.

Butch Jones will replace Muschamp and bring SC back to relevance in the SEC and beat the vols consistently. You heard it first right here right now.
With Dooley as OC and Pruitt as DC

I’m told they are wanting Napier or Chadwell.
I live here in Chas SC, my SC friends said he was informed last night he was out but waited till today to meet with team. Supposedly news conference at 4pm. Just what I’ve been told.
Just like I was told we had Gruden too 🤣🤷🏻
Well, it is past 4 PM. anyone seen the news conf?

Terrible idea because he's going to come with a huge buyout and Pruitt is too insecure to let him run the defense
There's no buyout for a guy that's been fired. In fact, it likely reduces his asking price if he has offset in his SC contract. That being said, 0% chance.

He's still going to want securities here with a huge buyout, his salary may be reduced but Jimmy Sexton will make sure his boy gets paid.
