Been a done deal for a long while now.

Fact is, he sealed his fate when he named Dabo interim coach in '08. Backed himself into a corner by allowing a "good ol' boy" to charm the gullible Clemson faithful with victories over Duke, UVA, and South Carolina to close the season. TDP didn't have any choice but to officially hire an unqualified candidate.

From what I was told at the time, Phillips really wanted to make a move for Gary Patterson.

He's ready to retire anyway. Clemson's issues go far beyond the athletic department. I don't think Hamilton will end up there.
