Ok I know we need/want a big time running back this year. Hopefully Derrick Green that would be like Christmas on signing day. What I do not understand is how Alabama keeps getting these kids with the backs they already have. They now have Henry, Tyren Jones, and Tenpenny. Plus on the team now they have Justin Fowler, Dee Hart, Eddie Lacy and Freshman T.J. Yeldon. With only Lacy having the chance to leave this year.. I understand you want to go to a place that is producing at the moment but how in the world do these kids think they will get ANY playing time with 8man depth chart at that position. Plus after seeing Derrick Henry run the ball at the Army game, wit him and Yeldon.. those two guys are extrememly good. With that said... GO NOTRE DAME. BEAT BAMA!!!!! (Forget the SEC, all I care about is Tennessee)

. . .What I do not understand is how Alabama keeps getting these kids with the backs they already have. . .

The biggest thing is every top recruit in the country is told by everyone - including the coaches recruiting them - that they are the best player to ever walk the planet. And, they believe it. They think they can beat out anybody because they always have. That attitude is actually part of what makes them great.

The also have to realize that RBs can rise and fall in a heartbeat. If they are good, they leave for the NFL. If they aren't or get injured, the next guy gets his turn.

UA doesn't care if they all get chance. They are all a commodity to the program. It's just insurance.

Sorry, but I can't do it. There's only a few teams in the country that could force me to choose Alabama. Unfortunately, ND is one of them.

I would say it is similar to USC and qb's back in the '00's. Look at how many went pro...and some never saw the field.

The selling point is competing with the best. Bama's 3rd string RB will find his way on to an NFL roster.

Alabama recruits itself, and Saban has only helped that cause. A big reason these guys go to schools like Bama because they have a great chance at winning a NC.

Every highly recruited kid truly believes they can beat out anyone on the roster or in their class. There as an extensive study done a few years ago regarding why recruits pick the schools they do, and competition at their position was way down the list. Mama's cookin still ranks as the top reason per the study.

I'd pull for USC over bama. I REFUSE to root for a team just because they share a conference affiliation. I hope the golden domers embarrass them.

In my view, Saban's biggest advantage is his ability to convince 4 and 5 star players to accept a place on the bench and wait their turn.

Same here man. I live here in Alabama and I am sick of hearing the crap. So I really want/need Notre Dame to win.

It doesn't have anything to do with conference. I'd pull for ANY team in the civilized world over ND. That even includes the prison guard team from the original "The Longest Yard."

Because those RBs still have a chance of getting alot of early PT because Bama is a run-oriented offense. Example is Yeldon. He had 154 carries as a freshman compared to Lacy's 184, and was a 1000 yard rusher as a freshman. All Saban has to do is point out those numbers to a recruit and tell the kid he will have the same opportunities to earn carries as a freshman.

This is true, but still 8 different backs will not average anywhere near those numbers. They could come here or any place like South Carolina and be The Feature back. I just do not understand. I get the thinking they can beat anyone out deal I played, I been there but come on. Their depth at Running back is just crazy

I prefer conference affiliation because that means our competition was more difficult. If we go 5-7 with losses against 6 or 7 bowl winning programs, it looks better than going 5-7 against 6 or 7 bowl losing programs.
(and just for the record, i wasn't looking at specific games, just speaking hypothetically)

Look at it this way: If ND wins, the national media will really be obnoxious about it....you know the great Notre Dame, Knute Rockne, touchdown Jesus and all of that crap! Whereas, if Alabama wins, the national media won't be as obnoxious about it because it will be routine, expected etc. Just maybe, if Alabama wins, Nick Saban will have nothing left to prove and will become head coach or something for the Cleveland Browns. I despise Alabama and Notre Dame as much as a lot of Tennessee fans do. I want both of them to lose, but, I know that is not a realistic possiblity. However, I do feel that Alabama winning will benefit Tennessee and other SEC teams more than Notre Dame winning.

Maybe a huge sinkhole will appear in both endzones, preventing either team from scoring. Causing the game to go on forever, Leaving both of them stuck in College football Purgatory. Then NCAA can move on without either team's affiliation. College football with No Notre Dame or No Bama...ahhh what a delight it would be.

Bama likes to have two go-to backs to rotate in and out of games. And considering bama players always have the opportunity to go to the NFL their junior year, I'd say bama can't have enough RB's - JMO.

Just a little thought to ponder. If UT could land green and kamara we might be on our way of doing the same thing. It would be a good start.
