I was reading that Coker had shoulder surgery last Thursday and he will miss spring practice. He is the fifth running back to have surgery this season. Could they not fix Coker's shoulder earlier in the season??

Hardesty - Knee
Riggs - Ankle
Williams - Knee
Foster - Knee/Shoulder
Coker - Shoulder

Granted, most will be ready for the preseason practice, but what if they aren't? Fulmer says......

"Obviously the running back situation is something we'll just have to deal with," UT coach Phillip Fulmer said Friday. "We've gone into spring practice before with six healthy offensive linemen.

"It's not that unusual. The primary concern is to be healthy by the fall."

Sorry, but when 5 of your running backs have had surgery since October, I would call that unusual. Any good JUCO RB's out there?

I'm getting sick of all these injuries. We seem to have a lot of them. :mf_surrender:

OWB, I won't lie -- it's concerning to me. I said the same about a week ago when everybody was downplaying Foster's injuries and upcoming surgery. You just never know how quickly and, really even, IF a player will return to full speed and ability. Fingers crossed here.

I guess it will go hand in hand with our lower expectations next year. I wonder when people are going to decide if Foster needs surgery on his shoulder or not? If he does, they need to get it over with.

FOSTER played injured and played fairly well. I dont think these surguries will leave him in worse shape then he was injured.

Coker is a shoulder surgery, that shouldnt affect his running ability, maybe more prone to fumble and affect his strength thats about all.

Not the point. They will both most likely miss spring practice. Judging from this year, everyone needs all the practice they can get. Especially Coker who hasn't played yet and is rumored to have ball handling problem.

I agree though, Foster did play well injured and I would suspect that there won't be much of a drop off from this past season. Foster is a good foundation but we need someone else to step up and help him out. Yancey isn't the answer.

I still curious to see what Williams will be able to bring. He looked pretty sharp in the Orange and White game last year.

Doc, we played Foster every game after his knee injury at UA. He already had problems with his shoulder popping out of socket, but we apparently didn't have a healthy TB to take his place. I was concerned at not only his role but he carried the ball 40 times in one game. That's too much for a kid that already had these injuries.

Is it just me, or does it seem like we have more injuries than all the other SEC teams combined?

yes, our conditioning is suspect.

To say the least. That's another piece of the NC contender puzzle that we can't seem to put together. I know that injuries are hard to prevent but some are better at it than others.

To an extent. But our guys weren't dropping like flies with dehydration, pulled hamstrings, groins etc. Over all im happy with conditioning. Ligon, Gandy were Knee's long before spring.(our Defense was on the field alot, no one was really sucking air)(Offense well...)

Foster had his knee cleaned, no major damage. He needs to get his shoulder ASAP, being down with minor knee surgery he could recoup both in or less amount of time.

There is No 100% chance of preventing an ACL tear! Everyones different, its just like a broken bone. What might break my bone may not yours. How Arian shows up will have much to say about what kind of force he is. He comes across as a solid kid, that has his goals quietly in mind.

I was refering to the large stomach muscles are offensive lineman have. That sumo style physique isnt working for them I think.

I agree on the O-Line size. That's one reason THEY have been injured. You can't stay in that position for that long and expect the legs and knees to withstand a long season.

I think the conditioning in the LSU game was much better than theirs. Their players were dropping like flies right after the half. I think that was one reason we held up and won that game. As for the rest of the season, we can only theorize.....or can we?

OklaVol, how can you say  their conditioning was suspect when you look at the performance in deathvalley this year?

did you watch the south carolina, georgia, alabama, vandy, florida, and notre dame games too though?

even johnny long UT conditioning coach said the offensive line was too heavy this year.
