I refuse to read the Huffington Post, but Murdoch has been seen having lunch on more than one occasion with Hillary, rumor has it he leans left.

it's no rumor. He's a full blown liberal. He just sticks with Fox slant because it makes money.

no, it had no political angle at all. The guy is a liberal and has never backed away from that when asked.

When asked what? If he's a liberal? Could you provide one link that shows this?

Also, this sounds like it has a political angle to me:

"The Cato Institute seeks to broaden the parameters of public policy debate to allow consideration of the traditional American principles of limited government, individual liberty, free markets and peace. Toward that goal, the Institute strives to achieve greater involvement of the intelligent, concerned lay public in questions of policy and the proper role of government."

I'm saying his being put on the board had nothing to do with his personal politics. I'll find you the liberal side when you find the conservative.

You might look at where his personal political donations land for help.

Here's an old story about Murdoch hosting a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton.

I really did not know that. He used to own my favorite MLB team the Dodgers but I always thought he was a big conservative.

I guess I see the Clinton donation more as a pump fake, but honestly I don't know that much about the man. I started the thread b/c it honestly surprised me and I was curious to learn more.

My evidence for the conservative side, aside from sitting on the board of the country's pre-eminent libertarian think tank, is the fact that he started and owns the biggest conservative media organization the U.S. has ever seen.

Regardless, he's either doing a good job throwing at least some of us off his scent, or his political stance is genuinely complex.

... or he simply owns a successful network. I don't see why he can't be good at what he does and not have that interfere with his politics.

But you see why this is odd, don't you?

It would be like finding out George Steinbrenner was a closet Red Sox fan.

Oh, I'm with you there. That's why when I discuss politics with my lib friends and they bash Fox News, they're shocked when I tell them about Murdoch.

Why are they shocked? As BPV said it is about money for him. He saw a need and fulfilled it, good business.

Then we should sell the crap out of some ICBMs to Iran and North Korea - we may be able to pay off the cost of the Iraq war that way.

Because when you bash a network 24/7, to find out it's owned by somebody that's a liberal is shocking. It's funny to watch the expression on their faces.
