Interesting decision by Smith. He's looking at, at best, an early second round pick this season. Is this motivated by Pitino's decision to bench Smith to start the second half of the championship game?

Maybe to try and take advantage of this weak draft, but I agree, not really a great pro prospect to begin with.

In all reality he can not do much better then he did this year. I am guessing he just wants to go out as a champion.

If he makes those fts at the end of the game, I and 3 friends win 10k in a march madness square game.
I will always root against him.

He won a championship and he's getting drafted 2nd round even though NBA teams are wary about bad shooting and bad choices. I would go, simply because I don't see him doing a lot better next year and not having a weaker class.

He could be a solid spark off the bench at the next level.

He and Phil Pressey...another interesting decision (don't get me wrong, his ball skills are next level; his finishing skills, not so much).

Pressey, Smith, and Archie Goodwin can have some fun times in the D-League next year.

Can someone tell me why you would want a 6'0/160 guard who can't play point guard and shoots 40%?

at 6'0 I don't see how he is going to raise his stock any by playing another year, he is what he is. Smith just won a national title and there is no way they get to the finals without his tremendous play throughout the tournament (outside of the championship obviously).

I mean, I go to UofL, I am not a fan, but have watched Russ play enough to know he has world class speed with a ball in his hands and gets to the cup at will. He racks up an insane amount of steals as well. Now I don't think the guy has a bright future because of his size, but I think he would be a lottery pick at 6'5.

His game kinda reminds me of JR Smith...are they brothers?

Yes they are brothers. Russ was overlooked coming out if highschool. He was a 2 star player per most recruiting services. The Cards were his only major offer. I think with maybe a yr in the D league to polish up some of his skills he will be a solid contributor for some squad
