Russia's parliament has voted to suspend Moscow's support for a key treaty limiting the deployment of armed forces along its border with Europe.

Parliament's lower house, the Duma, unanimously agreed to temporarily abandon the 1990 Conventional Forces in Europe treaty (CFE).
The bill still faces approval in the upper house in December before President Vladimir Putin can sign it.
The CFE is one of many issues recently putting Moscow at odds with the West. The Duma approved the bill in the 418-0 vote.

That was expected. As of earlier this week, I was expecting them to withdraw from both the CFE and the intermediate range ballistic missile ban treaty....

This is probably just step 1 in their political response to the plans for the US installation of missile defenses in Europe...

So when does Putin declare himself emporer for life?

So when does Putin declare himself emporer for life?

That's the question I've been asking myself. I actually wonder if he will install a puppet president, run for prime minister, and change the constitutional authority of the prime minister to something more like India's system.....or just do away with the prime minister and term limits on the presidency.

I haven't actually heard as many rumblings / people having open discourse about that as I thought I would by now....so maybe it isn't as close to a reality as I feel it is....because it wouldn't surprise me in the least...
