Russia has a chance to control 73% of the world?s oil | New York News

#PivotEast

The meeting between Russia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela on 16 February 2016 was the first step. During the next meeting in mid-March, which is with a larger group of participants, if Russia manages to build a consensus—however small—it will further strengthen its leadership position.

Until the current oil crisis, Saudi Arabia called the crude oil price shots; however, its clout has been weakening in the aftermath of the massive price drop with the emergence of US shale. The smaller OPEC nations have been calling for a production cut to support prices, but the last OPEC meeting in December 2015 ended without any agreement.

Now, with Russia stepping in to negotiate with OPEC nations, a new picture is emerging. With its military might, Russia can assume de facto leadership of the oil-producing nations in the name of stabilizing oil prices.

It's yet another Rastradamus thread he'll bump in three months after an article comes out with something to the effect of China and Oman signing a trade deal or something.

If Putin is so smart why is Russia's economy in the toilet and why didn't he see it coming. Besides we're not as vulnerable as we once were to an unstable oil market.

It is weird how posts get dredged up.

A fearmongering article about how Russia is going to militarily take over Europe is scoffed at as American propaganda, yet a fearmongering article about how Russia is going to take over the Earth's oil supplies (which is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard) is cause of triumph in that a poster's long-standing point has supposedly been further proven.

Sadly I know every word to that album . My mom wore that album out when I was a wee lad. Sad sad sad. That , the oak ridge boys, and Alabama stayed on loop back in the day. 8 track baby!lmao.

Pop was still rocking CSNY,skynyrd,Allman Bros mixed with country of the day. Little better. My old man has had 4 way street in the dash of whatever he's driving for about 40 years. Some things don't change. Good album though.

Sounds like we had the same family/childhood.

Tried to form a joke about China/Australia/'Every Woman in the World', but oil out of nothing at all was easier.

It would be a huge deal if in your hypothetical situation, they settled trade outside of the USD.

2 reasons why Russia's economy is struggling... and it has very little to do with it being Putin's fault.

1. Russia is a resource rich country. If Western Europe/the rest of the world is gripped by their our economic issues, then that will affect Russian sales of commodities.
2. The Western Sanctions brought on in the aftermath of the US lead coup in the Ukraine.

right because we punished Russia for the actions we did while they had absolutely no involvement. we have gotten very petty.

Apparently the Ukraine ended up revolting over small bags of Nuland's homemade cookies.

Imagine the kinds of pro-US governments we could install with about a thousand boxes of the Girl Scout's Peanut Butter Patties...

The ensuing chaos would be incalculable.

I love the "it was an American coup" narrative that still gets brought into the Ukraine conversation.

You hardly need a US-instigated coup when Russia has been treating you like its own ponzi scheme for the past three decades.

From 2016...
Russia along with Saudi Arabia, Iran (not mentioned in the 2016 article) and Venezuela looking towards the BRICS...

Will Russia Control 73% of the World’s Oil Supply?

Interestingly, pre-emptive preparation has gone hand in hand with plans to move away from the use of Petrodollars, and instead trade with local currencies. It’s a clever move from Russia, and could well see it surface as an unexpected, yet intimidating power within the oil and gas sector.

Saudi, Iran, and Venezuela. The coalition of winners.

I guess Maduro sees Russia in BRICS and thinks he has found his equal.
