Suicide bomber kills 35 at Russia's biggest airport | Reuters

(Reuters) - A suicide bomber killed at least 35 people at Russia's biggest airport on Monday in an attack that bore the hallmarks of militants fighting for an Islamist state in the north Caucasus region.

President Dmitry Medvedev vowed to track down and punish those behind the bombing, which also injured about 130 people, including foreigners, during the busy late afternoon at Moscow's Domodedovo airport.

Wonder how Putin and Medvyedev are going to play this? If they go after the perpetrators too hard, they risk alienating their Iranian buddies and thus setting themselves up for an even larger problem.

Maybe like they did with Chechnya. One thing about the Russians is they dont give a **** what everyone else thinks. They will blow the **** out of anyone that attacks them.

Text message blows up suicide bomber by accident

A "Black Widow" suicide bomber planned a terrorist attack in central Moscow on New Year's Eve but was killed when an unexpected text message set off her bomb too early, according to Russian security sources.

The unnamed woman, who is thought to be part of the same group that struck Moscow's Domodedovo airport on Monday, intended to detonate a suicide belt near Red Square on New Year's Eve in an attack that could have killed hundreds.

Security sources believe a message from her mobile phone operator wishing her a happy new year received just hours before the planned attack triggered her suicide belt, killing her at a safe house.
