Hat, why do you think that with Georgetown fans get all or nothing from the team? Either beating a solid Duke team or losing to the South Florida's and Rutger's of the world

South Florida would win the SEC West. Rutgers is always tough at home. When you play the tempo Georgetown normally does, there's not much margin for error.

Wow you believe USF would take the West? And that's a good point about Georgetown's tempo

I attend a lot of Big East games, and I really don't think they're leaps and bounds ahead of other conferences as some seem to think. They are the strongest conference I'll agree, but I think there are still a few teams in the SEC west better than USF.

Big East Top 5 teams highlighted vs. some non conference opponents:

WVU 63 @ Purdue 77
OSU 65 @ WVU 71
Temple 75 @ 'Nova 65
Pitt 64 vs. Indiana 74
Pitt 62 vs. Texas 78
Old Dominion 61 @ Georgetown 57
Syracuse 85 vs. Florida 73

I just don't think they've done too much out of conference to warrant the praise they get. They also haven't won a national title since 2004.

Run some of those epic SEC West nonconference performances. Pretty sure South Florida is better than Rider.

GU has no depth. I think their starters log more minutes than any other Big East team.

I agree with you hatvol, I understand the SEC has been down the past couple of years, most notably the west division, I was just saying I don't think the Big East should be on the pedestal it is, they get a lot of credit for beating teams within their own league, but don't do much out of conference.

I think if the western division teams were very familiar with USF's style of play like they would be if they were in the same conference, then USF wouldn't win the west. They would put up a good fight against anyone in the west this year though.

Great point about the pace. Went to school there when the old man was coaching there, watch them for a while and you learn a ten point lead is in their games is like a twenty point lead in most typical games.

There aren't many easy days in the Big East.

There are many factors that contributed to the Georgetown Hoyas loss against the Scarlet Knights of the State University of New Jersey. Conference strength, though, was most decidedly not one of those factors. In losing to Rutgers, Georgetown got beat by a terrible team. Not a terrible team by some loftier Big East standard. No, just a terrible team.

1. Rutgers would finish just above LSU in the SECW
2. I agree that "when you play the tempo Georgetown normally does, there's not much margin for error." This is a nice articulation of why it's dumb to play at that tempo.
