So? She can probably see problems that it'd cause in a country whose values are completely different than those of this country.

Our constitution has a lot of flaws.

If I could, I would change ours out in a heartbeat.

There would be a lot more limitations on federal power. Much more explicit.

There would be no commerce clause.

All ambiguity would be taken out of the bill of rights. Decisions like Kelo would be impossible. Any and all guns laws would be impossible. Any and all speech/communication/art, etc laws would be impossible. NO CENSORSHIP! Hmmm... one exception: gs can't post more than one cartoon a day! :p

Having any troops stationed outside of our borders would be impossible unless we are at war. A war declared by congress. Explicitly. As a matter of fact, no troops can cross our borders without a declaration of war or to pursue/intercept attackers.

There could be no central bank.

Only people who pay net positive federal taxes can vote in federal elections.

Any wealth transfers are illegal.

No income tax or property tax.

The government is only allowed to spend money AFTER it is raised. My idea is this, next year's budget must be based on this year's tax revenues. No emergency exceptions. They better save some money for a rainy day. No borrowing money, ever. But what about during wartime you may ask. If we are in danger of actually losing a meaningful war, then I am sure soldiers will be willing to serve for free and corporations would be willing to donate supplies. If they aren't, then we aren't in an existential situation, are we?

All laws require a 2/3 majority to pass. Overriding a presidential veto requires 3/4 vote. Idea is simple, if a law is truly a good idea, then it shouldn't be hard to get 2/3 of us to agree to it. If you can't, then the law probably sucks.

Any law can be repealed with a 2/5 vote. President gets no veto power on repeals. Idea is simple, if 40% of us hates a law, then there is a really good chance that the law sucks.

All proposed bills/appointments/etc must receive an up or down vote within 6 months of being proposed. If the vote does not occur, then 1/3 of congress is randomly stripped of office and sent home.

No term limits, but consecutive terms are not allowed.

I can probably come up with some others, but it is late and I am old.

Actually the constitution does bar privately owned central banking but they did it anyway.

gs, I'd love to hear your thoughts about Scalia apparently thinking the former USSR bill of rights was superior to what we have.
