Penske gets it done in the end. Toyota looked strong but not enough at the end. Kyle Busch illegally passed there at the end at for some reason they didn't call it.

What the hell is so great about Hendrick engines? JR had a better Plate car at DEI. What a let down.

So close for Tony.
Very happy for Newman though.Nice to see a different winner.
Enjoy the Hendricks not finishing up front because
it won't happen too often.I wouldn't question their engines, that's for sure.

At Daytona handling is at least 50% of the deal, Jr got screwed by his crew not being able to call him in the pits. Please reference my post on thread about Jr may not be all that better off since he has the same crew chief. His tires were the oldest of the contenders plus he lost the opportunity to have adjustments made to car. Jr. said in several interviews he had the best car ever at Daytona. Jr also said he made some bad moves.

I agree with the earlier post about it being a problem with Yeary. You can't question Hendrick's engine, just look at the track record at Daytona.

congrats #12 you are the man plus I win ;
with a season long bet vs #88
Still don't feel too good about my chances but off to great start.
Would love to see Ryan get a Cup championship, needs to be more consistent this year.

I cant believe Eury Jr said he was going to tell Jr to pit but there was too much chatter on the radio?? Unacceptable...
Did anyone see Grubb sittin on top of the pit box with Eury?? I hope Grubb takes over ASAP

Same thing happened once last year, Jr was fussing with his spotter and missed the call to pit.

You want to question Hendrick engines, you're probably the only person who follows NASCAR who's doing so. That's ridiculous.

Gotta give props to Kurt Busch. He could have easily made it 3 wide and gone for the win himself, but chose to push Newman to victory. Stewart took the most painful counterpunch of his life Sunday.

If you watch the replay, he did cut left in front of Stewart before Newman did in what appeared to be an attempt to pull beside Newman with Stewart pushing him. Newman was watching and cut left just in time to keep Busch behind him. Then Busch decided 2nd was going to be his best chance and stayed behind. this move effectivly shut out Smoke and Shrub as well. Then again the move could have been planned & coordinated by the Penzke drivers, but the 1st version is more like Busch and more controversial. :)

Ahh, at most it was a half hearted attempt once they had both cleared Stewart, and there is not a driver on the face of the earth that would not have at least done that. I was refering to when Newman first pulled up in front of Busch. He could have easily went high and tried to win a drag race to the finish.

just got done listening to Kurt's interview on Dave Moody's show.

he was actually saying that he felt he had such a huge run coming out of two that he was starting to get chills thinking that it was going to be his day. Newman pulled up in front of him right after that and he said he was going to give him a huge shove.

he was asked the question everybody wanted to know about passing Stewart to ruin his shot. he admitted to thinking that at one point but really didn't come out and admit it so openly.

Ridiculous to state a fact. They did't perform up to their standards yesterday. That is a complete FACT.

What motors broke? Mears and Johnson wrecked and Gordon's suspension broke. Eury Jr can't listen to more than one person speak. What did motors have to do with that?

Where did DEI's superior plate motors finish?

yeah, those Hendrick engines really sucked when the they put Junior in Victory Lane twice and Johnson on the pole. the real reason Junior finished the way he did was two things.

1. the motor mouths on the radio couldn't shut up long enough to make a call to pit and got totally made fools out of.
2. nobody is going to draft with Junior but his teammates.

edit: i recall Newman only taking gas on his last stop though. so really, reason two probably caused his outcome a little more than one.

What are you talking about? Gordon was one of the best cars in the field before a suspension part broke, not his motor. Casey Mears was running 3rd when he wrecked. Jr. had a car capable of winning if his crew chief hadn't screwed it up. Johnson was wrecked by Hornish.

How is any of that motor problems? Hendrick's engines were not the problem, and that is a FACT.
