Saban after the OU game last night

That sounds noble, but if its true to the letter you should want Tua to give up football if his physical well being is a concern.
I have zero problem with him giving up his amateur status. Him perusing a professional career is a separate argument.

Tua was 14/18 for 256 and 2 tds before he went out with the hip.

He was hardly limping around like Chester with no business on the field.

I meant for good. If his health is paramount.
He had an eight figure payday in his sights. My argument is that he wasn't needed to secure a win against State. L.S.U. ?! I get it. S.E.C. championship ?! I get it. National championship ?! Sure. Mississippi State ?! I don't think so.

There was absolutely no reason for Tua to be playing. He clearly wasn't right against LSU. They could have put in their back up, and had him hand the ball off fifty times, and still would have beat State soundly. He was a projected top five pick, but it was more important for Satan to get his veteran Natty winning qb some 2 min drill work ?! GTFOH.

The reason he was playing is because he is a football player. He was medically cleared to play, and guess what? Players want to play. If you think Tua has thought for one second that he shouldn't have been in the game, you are mistaken.

I absolutely hate it for the kid. You just don't see very many guys who can locate a football like he can. So, for himself and his family, I hope he recovers and is able to play again at whatever level he chooses to. But, it is in no way Saban's fault that he was injured.

Outside of LSU and maybe A&M they didnt need him to beat anyone else.

Given his "payday" maybe he should have just sit the entire year?

SIAP, heard on radio this morning that Tua suffered the same hip injury as Bo Jackson. Undergoing surgery in Houston today.

I don't care for Bama, but that is a tough blow for anyone.

Your argument is pretty weak here. Tua was healthy enough to play and had nothing to do with the hip injury he suffered in this game. The chance of Tua being hurt 1 minute into the game tied at 0 is at the same exact level that it is 2 minutes from halftime.

This is true but 1 minute in the game they weren't up 35-7

I see your point though. And don't disagree. I am in the super duper minority and actually like the best 2 format

You still have garbage like the Bama vs. LSU national title game. LSU should not have had to play Bama again.

So the score will make an injury more or less likely? 35-7 isnt necessarily a safe lead in the second quarter.

I agree with the premise of what your saying. However given the circumstances I think it is fair to say that up 35-7 against a terrible Mrsissippi St team and Tua ankle still maybe not quite 💯 I sit him. Let him rest and if they give up a couple TD send him back out.
I also agree that the injury was a freak thing that never happens. But at the same time if he's 💯 there's a good chance he eludes those two.
In the end there's no second guessing with a QB whose been hurt the last 3 weeks if the score isn't 35-7.

I see your point, but I disagree with it. If he is healthy enough to play, you play him and you take him out when the game has been decided.......to me its not decided at that point.

No Oregon or Utah (winner of that game) will get in, unless they drop another. Alabama doenst have a win against a top 15 team and either Oregon or Utah will have one against a top 10.
Yes, at this point, I have both Oklahoma and the Utah / Oregon winner in ahead of a Tua-less Alabama.

If it was an 8 team playoff, I would have Clemson, LSU, Penn St, Ohio St, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon / Utah winner as the first seven. If Bama wins big over Auburn, I would take them as 8th team. If not, come on down Minnesota.

It didn't make sense from the get go. Tennessee and Florida would have met a couple times in the 90s

I can see that argument.

The single biggest issue is that it takes a dozen years to play a home-and-home with the entire conference. Due away with divisions and it can be cut down to four.
