saban calling jalen hurd?

Julio Jones had one and his single mother, supporting the family, was an Asst. Mgr. at Church's fried chicken...explain that.

The same way that poor college kids who are goid at sports get nice things at any school. And it's not a Cam Newton or Reggie Bush kind if thing.

So what is "the same way"?

Just about any player who appears to have a future in the NFL can find a local auto dealer or bank who will lend to them based on future earnings. They'll pay a tiny bit of interest for a few years, then once they get their first league check the rate balloons and principle becomes due.

It's against NCAA rules, since the avarage student would not be able to get such a loan. But it happens everywhere to some extent, and the NCAA has not shown any inclination to do anything about it.

The NCAA investigated a case in 1999 where $4500 was funneled through Mobile, Al. sportswriter, Wayne Rowe to a certain UT QB on behalf of Mobile, Al. insurance agent Diane Sanford, who just happened to be a UT fan. All parties admitted that this cash transaction took place. However, because it was ascertained by the legislative powers that be, that our insurance agent, Diane Sanford, was not associated with Tennessee, just a fan, no violation had taken place.

Let that be a lesson boys and girls. The NCAA has been honoring no fault insurance policies for years.

Someone should start a thread on the duplicitous way the NCAA [doesn’t] investigate cheating.

Which banks lend on future earnings? I can see some car dealers doing that, but haven't heard of such a loan from a bank. Just curious, not saying they don't, I know there are some shady people in this world.

The auto dealer will guarantee the loan.

Typically a community or state bank. The big banks usually won't go there, but I can't say that I know for sure that one never has.

It's hilarious, yet not surprising, to see the Bammer dolts in this thread fit the well-known stereotype of their fanbase. NEVER FAILS.

Worked on the side as a part time as a janitor in certain condos in Gulf Shores for an extra 60K a year.

That's two I've mentioned publically, there are 30-40 more. :)

It's great that the kid is serious about his commitment.

But publicly dissing Nick Saban is not the best decision he's ever made.

LOL! What about the agent that publicly accused Saban of cheating.

Pittsburgh sports agent accuses Alabama coach Nick Saban of cheating | al.com

What's he up to now? Did lil Nicky go up to Pittsburgh and punch him? If so, who loaned him a step to be tall enough? :)

I hadn't read that article in a while. Interesting that he mentions Mark Emmert! Saban's buddy!

Interesting quotes from the above:

Cindrich was asked who is watching the NCAA.

"That's a very good question," he said. "No one's watching them. You want to know who's watching them? Nick Saban. You want to trust Nick Saban? I have enough on Saban right now - and I realize this stuff gets out, and I also realize the truth is a defense. I know what goes on in college football, so cut me a break. ..."

Cindrich went on to say there is "garbage thrown out there by Emmert and the rest of academia about college football."

"It is not pure, lily white," Cindrich said. "It is not close to that. It is a professional sport, a billion-dollar industry. Everybody knows the underside of it. If they're out there, if they're around players, around campuses, they know what goes on. It's bad."

This was where Cindrich was asked to elaborate on what he has on Saban.

"Everybody has something on Nick Saban, for God's sake," Cindrich said. "And if he has a problem with anything I say, come on after me, big guy."

Cindrich was asked directly if Alabama players are being paid.

"Oh, come on," he said.

"When you get these guys down and you get them under oath, they'll tell you that. Sure.

"The statute of limitations has probably run as far as any criminality was involved to what I was relating to Saban, but I was involved in it. I know what he tried to do. I know what he tried to cover up. If he wants to stand up and say something, I'll bring that up. If it's out of time, I'll go to the nearest agent I know, and I'll bring up about a dozen things that are in time, because that's the way he and most of the big-time schools, particularly in the SEC, operate.

And yes, NCAA President and Saban go way back:

Alabama case spotlights Emmert, Saban friendship

NCAA President Mark Emmert has a special relationship with Alabama head football coach Nick Saban.

As chancellor at LSU from 1999 to 2004, Emmert hired Saban as his football coach and eventually helped make him the highest-paid coach in the nation at $2.3 million.

"Chancellor Emmert is absolutely the best boss I've ever had," Saban said at LSU in 2004. "He's the most significant reason I was interested in the job. Never once has he disappointed me."

Hmmmmm.....something smells!
