I think Young meant that they should have been in the playoff, but beating a K State team, especially without Martinez, doesn’t prove that at all, just like us beating Clemson like a drum didn’t prove we should have been. Those cases should be made before selection Sunday. I don’t get why teams think they make some strong statement about how the belonged by their performance in these bowl games. They are fun to win, and they are a great launching point for the next year, but it doesn’t matter as far as making a “we belonged in the playoff” argument. Bama didn’t belong, and they could hang 80 on USC and it wouldn’t change that.
