For 2 years now, we play mentally calmer and better and free when we are at home. The hype is the same as listening to motivational music on your headphones before the game starts. It gets you revved up and confident. We have played nervous and hesitant at big away games and destroy our chances of winning in the first half and then tend to settle down and play much better in the 2nd half but its too little too late. I have no idea how to coach that out of a team, but I suspect, pumping loud crowd noise at practice won't cut it. I think you have to go into it with the mindset of a job and a business. You are there to take care of business each and every play. Focus on just the task of each play. Easier said than done.
