We have several issues, but I'm sick and tired of terrible safety play. Can't tackle and too slow. Watch #2 run himself out of the play and can't cover. And yes I know his name. Banks coaches safeties by the way.

I can’t disagree. It will get better, maybe not this year. Wouldn’t it be great to have an Eric Berry type player every year? Or Deon Grant?

I'm tired of it. Saw it a lot last year, saw it again tonight. It's a zone and only 1 receiver is in it and everyone is 10 yards off him. Completion is made and he's still running. For the life of me WHY aren't they closing the gap, there's literally no one else in the zone...in or out. Defense 101, WTF? This is D1 college ball..it doesn't work for me. No idea...

And why are the coaches still calling that defense when they’re getting burned back there over and over? May as well go full prevent and just keep them in front of you. They’re getting the yardage anyway and making you look ridiculous.

Many in here don’t like the channel but I love hearing Jonathan Cromptons post game analysis . If I were you I would listen to all of it. He makes some really good points. He says we lack SEC dudes as he calls it. And he also is very critical of Heupels system which I find interesting.

Yeah our safeties are terrible and I think # 8 is the worst corner I've ever seen.

Anybody that doesn't think there is a significant talent gap between Alabama and UGA compared to the rest of the SEC isn't being realistic.

Twenty five defensive backs on Alabama's roster, five of which are 5 star and five of which are 4 star. And I didn't look at all of them.

Totally right. Safeties and Dbs were a dramatic factor in the first half. 2nd half tides qb seemed to have cart blanch in the secondary. Terrible 3rd down percentage 1st half, success 2nd half with conservative run plays.
Great analysis

What I don't know is if this a function of Martinez, Banks or both. It's blatantly obvious on TV, and I mean blatantly. 1 receiver in 1 zone, nobody else deeper, no one entering or exiting, but still a completed pass with YAC. How is that possible! You have to be borderline incompetent.

As an aside.....I never heard any new names discussed as honest options in the secondary. None. Yes I heard new names....but it wasn't actually serious. So we're hearing the same names, with (not surprising) the same results.

Even tackling has been better
I still cringed. Forgive me if I want a better secondary. Guys like Fred White, Jabari Greer, Tory Noel, Eric Berry, Dwayne Goodrich, etc.
Nothing wrong with wanting better players.

Oh and when you are as bad as we were last year hopefully you do get better. But it’s probably more to do with the improved pass rush.

And what about wr and quarterback play? Are you casting the same judgment on the other coaches for how the kids are playing?

Doesn't matter what you SEE......you're eyes can't be objective. We are a top 20 Defense now. Improvements don't happen overnight and we're way ahead schedule. We should be excited that our defense has improved so much and it's pretty young, so we should have a few good years of defense to come.

And if you can't see that and it doesn't work for you, take your eyes and watch another team. I bet no one will stop you.

Tank doesn’t have SEC speed. Got to recruit better. Help is on the way.

You think Martinez is here next year?

The defense as a whole has looked much improved over this season and I think that’s the mark of good coaching. We do struggle some on the backend but it’s not near as bad as last year.

I can see the defense has improved, and is young, especially at linebacker. But saying ones eyes can't be objective is BS, and I'm putting it mildly. I saw what I saw on Saturday, and saw it several times last year. This isn't a one off. Until it gets corrected it'll be a top 20 defense losing games it can't afford to if the objective is getting to Atlanta. And I seriously doubt I'm alone. But keep seeing what you want to see....
