Same Old Tennessee

We just never got going. We let them drive down the field and hold them to a field goal, not ideal, but a win all things considered. First offensive possession we gain 15 yards and it comes back for a stupid penalty. It was a very undisciplined game.

That first series set the tone. If you drive down and easily score Arkansas knows their in for a long day. I still think there’s something in the the air/water in Fayetteville as we always play like garbage there.

The same old story is correct but not your spin. You’ve got a group/team that had thought they’d arrived. Happens in the NFL, college and high school. Now the question is who will rise up. There’s only one undefeated team in the SEC and I don’t think Texas is all that. Ohio State still hasn’t been threatened. Oregon isn’t real. Indiana certainly isn’t. Miami is a mirage.
The same old story is that there will be a team(s) that learn from their mistakes and improves. That’s the greatness of college football. We get to see if young men LEARN and IMPROVE.

The loss to Arkansas in Fayetteville in 2024 and a third string quarterback and a back up running back reminded me quite a bit of the loss to LSU in the SEC Championship game in 2001, when we found a way to lose to a backup quarterback, backup running back, a backup wide receiver and a new coach in the conference named Saban.

Fulmer never fully recovered from that loss and a blown opportunity to return to the National Championship game in Pasadena, will be interesting to see how Heupel responds as the team rolls into the meat of its conference schedule with enough disfunction and wholesale disappointment to derail the balance of this season.

People will still pay to see this team play. If we trot that kind of performance out there many times, they won’t be paying though.

That game was ugly as hell; Arkansas put their fingerprint on the game and turned it into a fist fight.

Don't forget to round up to an even $200 for that "talent gratuity".

I’m 68 and have been a fan for as long as I can remember. We have a long history of losing games we should win. Happens almost every year at least once
Doesn't this happen to every team? If the better team always won, sports would not be entertaining.
