Seems he & another Clemson athlete (soccer player) were pulled over & both were arrested for simple possession of marijuana. Watkins was also charged with possessing a controlled substance without a prescription (2 pills).

Probably right! Probably give him some meanless suspension or slap on the wrist that will be over by the time fall camp starts

Has he been in trouble before?? If not no need to kick him off.

I don't know if he has ever been in trouble before. I don't think he has. I am not saying they should kick him off, but something should be done to show him and the rest of the team that they don't need to be out getting caught doing stuff like this.

First time issue for something like this shouldn't include missed game time IMO. A first positive drug test doesn't include that so why should this?

Depending on which pills he had ( what schedule) it could be much worse than having some pot.

You have a point but IMO the punishment should be exactly what it would have been if he tested positive for the 1st time for these substances. I see no difference unless he was selling these drugs which I haven't seen that mentioned.

Possession of certain types of pills can get you some time, believe me, I was a deputy for three years.. It's much more serious than pot, again depending on the substance. But without any priors and only having two it will be considered just possession without intent to resell most likely. If they were oxy's or such like it could be serious for him. I'm not familiar with sc law but tn has some stiff penalties the higher up the pill chain you go. Serious meaning if he does not cooperate ( snitch) then he could get a little more than probation. Like a nice fine, 30 days, and 3 years probation... Likely outcome is charges dropped with 1 year probation on good behavior, or dropped altogether depending on the legality of the stop

Good assessment.

To add to the above it's my understanding the drugs were Adderall and Vyvanase (lisdexanfetamine). Both are Sch II.

I thought if they failed a drug test the missed a game. I don't know. I thought it was also a team to team basis.

Do you think anything should happen to him?

In house punishment with regular unannounced drug test.

Only person thats gonna get in trouble there is the guy that made the arrest. The cops up there are notorious for trying to cover up Football players indescretions.

Supposedly the car he was in had temporary tags. Wonder if the ITPAY provided funds for that?

Both used to treat ADHD. How do cops know what he does or does not have prescription for?
