With the Galaxy Note 7 coming early August (they're skipping the number 6 for this model apparently), I'm expecting the 5 to get discounted and I'm thinking about upgrading from my Galaxy S4. Is there anyone here who uses it or has had experience with it? What are your impressions? The larger screen and included stylus pin is appealing to me.

All the galaxy phones are great. I had a 4, now have a 6, wife has a note. Best phones made IMO.

If memory serves me correct they botched the Note 5 removing the external memory card slot and removable battery. I won't own anything but the note series any more. I have the 4 and plan on hanging on to it for at least another year as long as I can keep from breaking it.

I don't understand the uproar over this. Why is that such a big deal to some people?

I've got a Note 5 and I love it. My 25 yr old son is actually the one who talked me into getting it.

Well vollygirl if you're giving it the "seal of approval" then that's good enough for me! Sold! :)

Also, I'm going to go ahead and spend the extra $$$ and get the 64GB version since the memory isn't upgradable.

Yeah I've had a Galaxy S4 for nearly 3 years and I've loved it. However it's time to upgrade. I'm looking forward to getting the Note 5.

Ever have a battery die in a phone without a removable battery? It's one of the great features (removable battery) that set it apart from the Iphone.

So carry a portable charger pack instead of a battery. Very little difference (I went from an s3 to an s6). I carry up to 3 in my bag when traveling

I loved my Galaxy phones, and the Notes are fantastic.

That said, now that I've moved to a Nexus without the Touchwiz, I probably won't go back. Updates quicker and seems much less buggy.

Yeah I get that but I've never bothered carrying a spare battery around with me. I can see the benefit but the thought never really crossed my mind for some reason.

I should definitely invest in one of those.

That works for you, but not for many. I was just answering his question why there was an uproar. Some people don't want to carry 3 portable charger packs.

When I say die, I meant fail to recharge. Much easier to buy a replacement battery than pay the 100 or so bucks to send it in and have it repaired.

There was an uproar because it was different but in the end it didn't matter. Carrying one charger is the same as carrying a battery. I had extra batteries for my s3 and just had to adjust.

I've never heard of that being a common issue on mine. Is it on the Note?

Not saying it was a common issue, but it's an issue that could arise and without a removable battery, it's a pain and more expensive. Again, I was just answering why there was an uproar and that was the main factor.

I had a Note 3 for upwards of 5 years and I absolutely loved it. I kept it in an Otter Box and it looked brand new when I traded it in for a 5. The 5 is ok, but I really miss the 3. Att did a system update on it last week and screwed it up royally. Lost all contacts, ringtones, and several pics.

Overall...I'd give it a 4 out of 5.

This is why I'm holding on to my Note 4.
