Twenty-five cents a gallon — that’s about how much some international energy experts say the tough U.S. sanctions on Iran’s oil industry are costing Americans at the pump.

Of course the Iran sanctions — which President Obama has continued to ratchet up, including at the end of March when he decided to move forward with sanctions on Iran’s Central Bank he had signed into law in January — are designed to dissuade Iran from pursuing a nuclear program with a weapons capability, a goal many consumers may agree with.

But the NFTC’s Mr. Reinsch says consumers should be told what sanctions are going to cost.

LOL..Of course they are not going to tell the consumers.

which could be mitigated, somewhat, if the President and the democrats had a coherent energy policy that isn't written by the Sierra Club and other climate change zealots

that said, I have come around in my thinking and believe that we should just leave Iran alone

Theres a small but growing school of thought saying that it may actually improve security. Groups at least as crazy and unstable as the iranian government have had nukes for decades, and not one has been used.

Not saying I agree with all that, but it's a thought worth exploring

If I remember right, the Saudis have already expressed that they would be willing to ratchet up production to prevent Iran from obtaining weapons. A nuclear Iran is not good for them either, as they would then need to increase their military capabilities.

The Saudis are actually pursuing them right now from what I understand. I would be more scared of them having them than the Iranians. I honestly don't believe Iran would ever use them unless they were attacked.

And to comment on the original topic: sanctions only hurt the innocent civilians of the country they're placed on.

Honestly, North Korea already has nukes and I would be much more afraid of them using it than I would with Iran. Don't need to have an ICBM to deliver one.
