Sand Wedge

They generally aren't forgiving. They're made for fine shots and touch. The forgiveness adjustments just don't help that much.

I have a Cleveland cg 14 and love it, but most players use high degree wedges too often. U have to know how to hit multiple shots around the greens including bumps with an 8 or 9 iron. If u don't have good feel, don't get a 60

they definitely take some finesse to play.

my new 60* should be arriving any day. i've never carried one, but i've played with one. i found it useful from about 50 yards and in. anything further out and you need a "true" sand wedge, which is 56*.

don't know about your game, but i admire the consistency in continuing to miss the 4050 post Golf Thread in the Sports Forum.

I have Callaway X-tour wedges, with a Mickelson 60, raw finish. Love them.

Better idea than to stress about the club: buy and read Dave Pelz's Short Game Bible. Then, read it again. Then, head to your range or backyard.

Not sure I'd recommend a "digger" for a guy looking for forgiveness.

But nit sure there is a forgiving 60 degree out there. U have to be a good golfer to use a 60, and k iw when to use it.

Don't do that. Head to a golf shop and pick the one that looks best to you. Most are quality these days.

Worst case, jump on TGW.com and pull up all of them. Take the product tour on each to see which looks best. They're also likely to have some very good clubs in the sale group. Maybe the TM TP wedges or something like that.

Not sure I'd recommend a "digger" for a guy looking for forgiveness.

Hadn't heard "digger" before, but it fits. When I got mine, it was important to get a bounce on the opposite end of the spectrum from my 56 (which has a lot, as most do,) so I've got a digger lob. It makes my set more versatile, but there are some lies where I just can't use the thing. There are others where the sharp edge gives it an advantage over the traditional SW.

I guess what I am suggesting is to do a little research and pick the club that fits best with the rest of your set. For me that was a low-bounce 60, but that is pretty set dependant. I'd also look at the long-iron/FW wood/hybrid set up and make sure that a lob is the best choice for the extra club. A gap wedge is another consideration.

I like my 60, and I miss enough greens that having it in my bag makes my game a little better, but it is just a tool in a limited kit, and when it goes in, something else comes out. Make sure that it is worth the trade, and pick the loft and bounce that gives you the most bang for the cost of losing another stick.
