Does any Vol Nation insider know for sure about Cutcliffe. I've read, and heard on TV speculation but is there anyting concrete to report. Also read that rumor about Randy Sanders.

Quite interesting rumor about Sanders to MTSU. It really looked like McCollum was going to turn it around a few years ago.

In 2002 MTSU came up to play us, and they were one of the dirtiest-playing bunch that I've seen-- even more so than Mississippi State.

Despite Sanders' apparent demotion, it would be unfathomable that he could hold onto any type of position at UT given all the bad blood that I've seen toward him.

RS won't be at UT in any capacity after this season. He might be a decent position coach, but if you look at the QBs he's developed, Ainge and the Clausens, then even that is questionable.

It really is quite amazing how Tennessee seems to have longevity in their football staff. At KY, if you've been here more than 3 years as a coach or assistant, you're a veteran. There's no understating that continuity breeds success.

There has to be a happy medium, especially in football. If you are a coordinator at big program and don't get a head coaching job in 5 or 6 years, it could be a bad sign.

Well, you could count me in on the "Fire Ron Hudson" bandwagon last year, but I think we need to stay the course with Rich Brooks and give the man the chance to develop his players for a few years. Next year, we should be 5-6, and the next, we should be back to a bowl game.

But back to the topic. Do UT fans really feel that re-hiring Cutcliffe is the answer? It might be interesting to look at an up-and-comer to bring fresh blood to Rocky Top, someone who coaches or is an OC for one of those high-octane offenses that play on Thursday nights on ESPN2.

not afraid to losen the reins a little, nothing against coach cut

A fresh approach to our offense would be great and I'd be for it. However, at this point, I'll gladly take the same offensive system as long as someone takes charge of it, it's staff and the players. Sanders wasn't offered the opportunity to be the boss at UT, therefore I hope the next guy does.
