I am not saying Randy does not need to go.

Fulmer had to have a fall guy. This should have happened a few years ago. I remember an 8 and 5 season not too long ago.

Fulmer is the head coach. A new o-coordinator will run the offense that Phil wants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fulmer has become bigger than the University itself.........in more ways than one!!!!!!

CPF will methodically get rid of his coaches one at a time before he becomes the fall-guy. Remember, he is in a good ol' boy network and he is one of the boys. Other heads will fall before his does. I think J. Adams column in today's Sentinel said it best about CPF. I don't agree with everything JA comments on but I do agree with him in the column. It's interesting that CPF has decided to call plays by "committee" rather than by himself. It takes alot of the responsibility off of himself if the offense doesn't produce this weekend.

You "hit the nail on the head"!!!!! Very few on the forum appear to see what may actually be happening with the "resignation" of Coach Sanders

It appears people around him seem to get the blame. Majors was 28-9 his last 4 years and was fired after his own 3 game losing streak.
Now Sanders "resigns" after 3 straight losses. Fulmer in his last 4 years has been 28-16. It seems all the postion coaches are at fault and some will be replaced.
It now seems that Fulmer is no longer untouchable. There are simply no more people around him to blame. I think if this program continues to decline only Fulmer will finally be held accountable.

My problem was with Randy. PF had decent offensive teams pre-RS, so I'm reasoning that they can come back.

If the problem really is PF, then his time will come. I'm just looking forward to Saturday to see what shakes out.

Note: This "committee" playcalling DOES suck, however. What a lame thing to do. It screams, "Not my fault! Not my fault!" even before the fact.

Thing about it is. How can a committee get the plays in on time when 1 man couldn't beat the play clock?

This is amazing. Sanders is gone and instead of people putting up the Kleenex, they break out a whole new box. :banghead:

Sanders may be a scapegoat, but the fact is that he resigned. If he was truly the scapegoat, Fulmer would have fired him first.

Funny to me that when Phil was OC, we lit up the scoreboard. Same with David Cutcliffe. Randy is the one that sucks. It's not just play calling. It's player development and preparation....discipline.....

Last time I remember playing and coaching, it was the head coach's responsibility and job to oversee the entire program including assistant coaches, player development, and discipline. If the team succeeded or failed, the head coach was in charge. Have things changed that much in football since the golden days? Even corporations today tend to use fallguys to account for system failure. Whatever happened to accountability from the "topdog"?

Think of it this way... If Fulmer coached for LSU or Georgia and had the same experiance, same history, as he has had at UT over the years as HC. Would we want him to coach for us???? Easy..... :hi:

Nobody at UT would dare do it

As Coach Majors thought as well, nobody is bigger than this....

the "topdog" rarely fires himself. if there is a problem, he weeds it out and fixes it. we'll see in the next 2 seasons if Fulmer has "fixed" the problems.

Let's not forget that Tuberville went through this same situation a few years ago. He got the message and hired some decent assistants.

The "topdog" namely headcoach should answer to someone besides himself. You say he weeds problems out and fixes it. Apparently, CPF hasn't been doing his job then. For several years there has been a growing problem with on and off the field discipline of players????? Also, committing the same mistakes over and over, in game after game, is a good indication that something is awry. I think it's going to take more than 2 seasons with the problems that exist. Changes need to happen starting with the "topdog" like a new philosophy dealing with players because the hand-clapping after mistakes just doesn't cut it.

Steve runs his own ship.
