That's a current rumor. Also, the new MTSU AD came from SC. The local 'Boro paper said he was looking at SC buddies as well as others. No particular mention of RS.

I think it would be a great place for RS. He's not as bad as everyone thinks.

It would be better for him if he moved on and got away frm UT.

Here's an article:

I don't believe anyone really knows if RS is worth a flip or not. I've never heard anyone define just how much control he had of the offense at UT. I for one always felt CPF was heavily breathing into his headset w every call.

I would have had more respect for RS if he flat out stated he made all calls or if he simply acted as the messenger. Of course, there are always the few calls the headcoach has to make.

RS w/o CPF might be a good fit at MTSU, he's certainly familiar w in state coaches as well as national recruits & brings name recognition to the Blue.

I'd think MTSU would love to have a guy like CRS due to his contacts. I don't see how he could be much worse than McCollum who was energetic, but that's about it.

Sanders isn't qualified to be a head coach at a D1 program. McCollum had no head coaching experience when MTSU hired him, and he proved to be unsuccessful as a head coach.

Cutcliff would be a better hire at MTSU than Sanders, he has head coaching experience, but MTSU would never be able to afford Cutcliff as he could make more as an OC at UT than as a HC at MTSU.

When is a school like MTSU EVER going to be able to do anything but roll the dice on coaches with little to no head coaching experience?

Another rumor is that an assistant coach at Illinois who is a former MTSU player will be named HC. It wouldn't surprise me to see RS in the same position at MTSU as he was at UT. He is not as bad as his billing. The man needs to be "the boss" of his own staff, a position he was not in at UT.

There are a lot of ways to get a coach with HC experience. One way is to do what Vandy did and hire a guy from a lower level in NCAA.

MTSU has a lot of options; many successful coaches from smaller schools would be willing to take the job. The Sunbelt is one of the weakest conferences in D1. So winning there wouldn't be too hard, just need a guy who can recruit with the big boys and get a few studs.

The biggest problem MTSU would have would be keeping a coach once he wins the conference a few times; the bigger schools would come calling.

Sanders will sit out a season to clear his head. After that he may or may not get back into coaching. He resigned primarily because of the crap his kids where taking.
