We will hear from the far right crowd how it is a terrible appointment.

By all accounts, he is highly competent. He is also able to articulate himself very well. In the position of Surgeon General, being articulate is extremely important.

This is actually the first guy that came to mind for me when I thought about Surgeon General, but only because I was watching CNN at the time. I honestly don't know enough about his background to make an informed comment.

I don't know anything about his politics, but it seems to me like he is the type of guy that an administration would want in the position.

He is a Neurosurgeon and teaches at Emory... so you know he is smart

As long as he doesnt start a jihad against my Tobacco Stocks, I am fine with the pick

That guy works 80 hrs a week, being a physician, correspondent, etc. Anyone with that kind of work ethic will do a good job IMO.

I don't need to sleep at a Holiday Inn Express to know you should sell that stock. Yesterday.

Why the hell not. He's competent, and seems well versed in health. Put him on board.

Well..it's all up to him and whether or not he wants to take the paycut...we'll see...I say he does it...

Oddly enough, I predicted we'd hear from the far left crowd about how the far right crowd would claim this is a terrible appointment...

So far I'm right, we'll have to wait to see if you are!

Ever notice how it's always people on the far side opposite of one's self? Because if they don't agree with me, they must be wildly radical.

Really? Its hung in there pretty well during this market down turn. Also pays a really good dividend. I own both Altria and Philip Morris International and plan on keeping them for a while

They were saying on the Atlanta radio this morning he'd take a huge paycut taking this job. He is some kind of big deal down at Emory and they were saying for him to come speak he gets paid 30-40 large...

He can't do that as the surgeon general....
