Sarkisian to Washington

Just heard that on ESPN myself. I guess I can forget the thought of him possibly being our new OC. I didn't think it would happen anyways. I guess Callahan is definitely on his way???

Undemines some of the trash about him being the coach in waiting at USC.

Congrats to Sarkisian. HE deserved his chance in the spotlight, and I am confident he will take advantage of it. Here's hoping the Pete Carroll coaching tree becomes the new dominant force in college football.

I know Kiffin and Chow didn't get along, but what about Kiffin and Sarkisian?

Not sure why I'm asking that, but anyway. Wonder if they'd be interesting in playing each other in the coming years? UT has been playing Pac Ten schools lately, wonder if he might see USC or Washington pop up on the schedule?

Then again, probably be hard to make it work at least anytime soon considering how many years in advance these games are scheduled.

Did Al Davis really want Sarkisian over Kiffin for the Raiders, or was that just a rumor?

I'm also confused. You don't usually turn down a NFL head coaching job to remain a college coach.

Perhaps Sarkisian saw the mess that the Raiders were in, and knew a better head coaching opportunity would soon present itself.

Or, maybe he just didn't want to work for Al Davis...not many coaches seem to have an interest in doing that anymore.

I'm not sure. Does Carroll plan to retire soon? I fully expect him to dominate for a while longer.

I think another trip to the NFL is in order for Carroll before retirement.

Maybe in San Francisco next year?

I would be surprised. I think Carroll would rather win national championships in college than try the NFL thing again.

SC fans are rather happy with this development. Most of them considering sarkisian the problem with the offense and the boring playcalling. We'll see how happy they are when he is gone. This might be a cutcliffe style situation.

The washington board is melting down: Scout.com: DAWGMAN FOOTBALL FORUM

They don't see this hire as worthy of mighty UW. My guess is sark at worse will make them competitive.

Wasn't the rumor that he was hc in waiting at USC.

yup. my guess is either pete told him he isn't leaving any time soon, or he realized that the big money at SC wouldn't be behind hiring an OC at coach who hasn't exactly been lighting it up. If he turned around UW he would be the leading candidate for the SC job anyway if pete left.
