Sounds like Clowney has quit

"If Clowney "wants to play, we will welcome him to come play for the team if he wants," Spurrier said. "But if he doesn't want to play, he doesn't have to play. Simple as that."

"He may not be able to play next week. I don't know," Spurrier said. "But we're not going to worry about it, I can assure you of that."

clowney's already packed it in for the year---he's saving himself for the combine and draft to really cash in.

south carolina spurrier > florida spurrier

edit: not really by coaching. just in terms of who you'd wanna hang out with.

Clowney won't finish his game with us, if he even plays. Our boys are looking to make something out of it. He doesn't seem to have the heart for a fight like Georgia got.

I don't give a damn what anyone else says! I love Spurrier and I'm going to miss him when he retires! He's truly one of a kind!

I agree. He competly turned around the programs at Florida and South Carolina. IMO he is the best coach in the NCAA ( career wise). He is the coach I most want TN to win against.

This deal l with Clowny is telling him he don't care how big a stad he is, he is going to give his all or ride the pine. I admire him for that. Most coaches cave in and pamper their star players.

I'd say if Clowney shows up for one game it'll be UT....Especially after having to hear about how Tiny handled him pretty well last year (well, until the end haha)

And yea, Spurrier showing up drunk was hilarious..."We gotta quit that craaappp"

See Dooley/bray

Edit: I'm agreeing with you, seemed like it could be taken either way when I reread

You are taking it correct. Sorry I was not clearer.
Dooley/ Bray is a good example of a coach caving in to a player.

Fulmer/ Kelly Washington is another good example.

When a player puts himself above the team, he should ride the pine, imo.

Jadaveon is dialing it in this year. He has "injuritis" worried about losing his NFL millions. Should work to our advantage. And even if he does show up, Tiny will handle him again. :)

I don't think he's caving in, I think he's letting Clowney dig his own hole. The NFL is watching his lackadaisical attitude towards playing. I don't see him being the #1 pick if he keeps this up.

Even if he does play against UT, he's not going to play hard. He hasn't played that way all season. It's obvious what he's doing. He's afraid he's going to get hurt and that it will cost him millions in the NFL. He's not going to risk it and clearly doesn't care what his coaches, team, or the fans think.

I just now got around to watching this. Good God.

There were a couple priceless instances where that commentator was looking at the camera with "help me" eyes.

Oh like him talking about health being an issue and Spurrier saying " we are pretty healthy we only have 1/2/3/4/5 players out" Then saying well yeah we have a couple health issues.

Apparently Spurrier had no clue Clowney wasn't playing until right before the game when he came up to him and said he couldn't go. I can't respect a player like that when even his coaches say he takes around 20-30% of plays off. The guy is obviously packing it in for the NFL. I hope the GM's see what a diva the guy is
