I'm a little confused how Fulmer has no discipline and Spurrier is God's gift to CFB.
----------------
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The two South Carolina football players charged with simple marijuana possession will remain members of the team while their case is being resolved.

"The status of Ty Erving and Josh Johnson as members of the USC football team is unchanged," a release from the university said. "Their status remains subject to change following the resolution of their pending criminal charges."

Columbia police arrested Erving and Johnson last month after an officer found marijuana inside a parked car the players and another man were sitting in.

Drug tests were given to Erving, a sophomore defensive back, and Johnson, a sophomore linebacker, by coach Steve Spurrier after the players said they were innocent. Spurrier had said the results would determine whether he would take any disciplinary action against the players.

South Carolina spokeswoman Michelle Schmitt said the university could not comment on the connection between the university's statement and results of the drug tests.

Along with Johnson and Erving, nine other current or former Gamecock football players have been arrested on charges ranging from domestic violence to grand larceny since the end of last season.

How long does it take for pot to get out of someone's system?

I think it stays for about 5 days or so??? I read an article where the players claimed it was not their's and that Visor Boy wasn't going to discipline them unless the test he gave came back positive, sounds like they might have been telling the truth...or are covering it up really well!!

The main active chemical in pot is THC. Since it is not water solluable, it doesn't flush out of your system very easily. It actually stores itself in your fatty tissue. So to answer your question, it depends on how in shape a person is (amount of fat) and how often that person choses to use the drug. If it is just a single use, a person could possibly pass a test in the next couple of days. However, if the person is overweight, not exercising and a daily user it can be in your system for up to 6 weeks or so.

Nope. Way longer than 5 days. about 4 weeks really but you can go buy toxin cleansing drinks that can make you pas a drug test. Its how Ive gotten my past 3 jobs. Thats about as lame as Shula doing the same w/ Ray Hudson last year. A drug test is a cheap way to keep a player on.

WOWI was way off...the only encounter I have had with drug tests was at my last job. I consider myself to be and "endurance athlete- not triathalons but duathlons - any way - I took a drug test and it came back positive because I drank too much water - they said I was trying to cover it up...needless to say they let me take it again after I freaked out about it.

On the test issue I agree that it is a cheap way to keep the players on but we have had our own issues with drug use. It almost seems to be accepted these days - I gues a little recereational smoking is better that beating the crap out of some guy in a bar!!

Erving’s father: Son, Johnson passed drug tests

The two USC sophomore defensive players arrested in Five Points on marijuana charges last month have passed school-administered drug tests, the father of one of the players said Wednesday.

Rover Ty Erving and defensive end Josh Johnson were tested April 18, a day after they were charged along with Johnson’s younger brother with simple possession after a Columbia police officer found a gram of marijuana inside their parked car.

Rochester Erving said tests of his son and Johnson were negative.

“We knew that he would come through this. We told Ty just be patient,” Rochester Erving said. “He was upset about it, but I told him he’s proved his innocence. He’s ready to go forward.”

Erving and Johnson remain on the team pending the resolution of the criminal charges, according to a statement released Wednesday by USC’s athletics department. Rochester Erving said his son hopes to have the misdemeanor charge dropped and does not intend to apply for pretrial intervention.

Attempts to reach Johnson on Wednesday were unsuccessful.

USC athletics spokeswoman Michelle Schmitt said privacy laws prohibit school officials from discussing the results of drug tests.

Justin Johnson, 18, of Ruskin, Fla., told police the marijuana belonged to him, according to the incident report. After spending a night in jail hours after the Garnet and Black game, the two players told USC coach Steve Spurrier that they had not smoked the drug.

“I’ve got a lot of faith in my son that he would not make a decision like that at this time in his career,” Rochester Erving said.

Spurrier hinted at the results of the test Tuesday during a Gamecock Club meeting in Spartanburg.

“Some of the guys that were arrested were proven innocent,” Spurrier said at the meeting, according to published reports.

Under the school’s wellness program, athletes who test positive for drugs a first time are required to submit to regular testing for 18 months, attend counseling and could be suspended. A second positive test brings an automatic dismissal.

In addition to the school drug test, Rochester Erving said he had his son tested by an independent lab “to make sure that he got a fair shake.” That test also was negative, according to the elder Erving.

Erving and Johnson both returned to the team this year. Johnson left school for a year following the 2003 season, and Erving was dismissed from the team during the 2004 season for an undisclosed violation of team rules under former coach Lou Holtz.

OK, so they "passed" the drug test. That still doesn't explain the pot in the car. The owner of the car would still have to face the possession charges.

However long it takes for your hair to grow out. If you have short hair then wouldn't be that long, but if you have long hair it could take quite a long time until you "cut" the pot metabolites out of your hair.

It's a really expensive test and isn't used very frequently at all.

Umm im pretty sure the police have better things to do than go out of their way to prosecute someone for a gram

$5 of weed is not worth the time it takes to fill out all the necesary paperwork.

many police often overlook simple possession of small amounts

Do you really think they will just overlook something that was on the front page of the USA Today sports section? If they were going to overlook it, why were they arrested in the first place??

THC which is the drug that gets you high in pot stays in your system approximately 30 days.

Actually Fulmer has done the same before when their has been a question about innocence.
