Who hurts us the most by going pro next year? If all three stay then our offense could be one of the best in the country. If, and only if, they get their head on straight.

The talent on defense needs major work so even with all of our offense back the D is a major problem.

What's our record? Thoughts?

08/31/13 vs. Austin Peay

09/07/13 vs. Western Kentucky

09/14/13 at Oregon

09/21/13 at Florida

09/28/13 vs. South Alabama

10/05/13 vs. Georgia

10/19/13 vs. South Carolina

10/26/13 at Alabama

11/02/13 at Missouri

11/09/13 vs. Auburn

11/23/13 vs. Vanderbilt

11/30/13 at Kentucky

We suck now. How will the same players make us better next year? New coach or not, we'll be in the 5-7 win range again next year.

The right hire could have the returning D overachieving, but with some brutal road games, I would imagine 7 wins is probably best case. Actually I guess 7 W's would be something of a feel-good season in the wake of the Dools era.

I tend to agree with you. I see 8-4 as being about the best we could hope for but most likely 7-5.

we just lost to Vanderbilt. no, we just got blown out by Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt.

even if everyone stays, we're going to be terrible unless we hire an amazing coach.

There will be no chump hires this time around. Too much is at stake. Too much money involved. The talking heads estimated they lost like 2 million dollars on concessions just during the Troy game alone. That's insane money to be losing and they can't afford it.

No, we'll have a better coach. 'Cause if they don't make a quality hire it could be absolutely catastrophic for the University and the other programs that depend so heavily on that football money.

With that said I think if the D gets shored up a bit we could be 8-4 on a good year and 7-5 ( most likely ) or 6-6 ( not starting out well at all ). Anything more than that and we'd be competing for a national championship again the following year. Just like what Saban did at Bama.

Bad news. There is too much money involved for us to afford anything BUT a chump.

Well think about it. If they lost 2 million dollars on one game in concessions alone....then are they going to fret over buying out a 5 million dollar contract plus whatever the other coaches cost to be bought out?

Man, you can't afford NOT to get them out of here. The pressure on the football side of the financial equation for that University is beyond immense. I'd be surprised if any other program at UT is self sustaining except for women's basketball. And with Pat Summit's departure it remains to be seen whether the Lady Vols will have the same success.

So if this football team isn't bringing in the bucks then everybody is affected in a very big way.

Oh, he'll be fired, but don't hold your breath for a blockbuster replacement.

I look for it to be a very major hire. Hart is too quiet. They need look no further than the Alabama fiasco to let history teach them a few things. Why not bypass all that Bama went through and go ahead and get our version of Nick Saban? Only problem is - Saban was more than willing and ready to bolt back to college - but Gruden - not so much. So what may kill us is the lot that we have to choose from. It may not be a money problem but, rather, an "availability" problem. Some will say, however, that enough money will make anybody available. We'll see.

Hate to tell you but UT isn't Bama and I don't mean that as an insult. But when Saban came to Bama he was lucky enough to have the best talent in decades inside the state, Ut doesn't have that advantage. Now Saban is going more out of state because there's not as much talent in state butthe 1st twoyears most of the players came from in state or the Fla panhandle.

Dooley lovers will tell you how much Talent we have and Dooley brought in. The next coach will have to rebuild from the ground up on defense. We are the slowest Team in the SEC and I been saying this for 10 weeks. Dooley has dabbled the recruiting up so bad . Dooley is the worse thing to happen to this program in many years. His cocky press conference last night made me what to kick him in the chin. Fire that spoiled rich brat and get us a coach!
