Okay all you you VOLNATION Faithful.... Who do you like after tonights performance?

It's a toss up right now since I really like the diverse talent of both players. The scrambling of Schaeffer is awesome (even though I'm not a fan of the scramble and run prior to pass mindset, especially with our talented, tall, and speedy receivers) the nice touch of Ainge is sweet (and I like the way he looks off a DB before the pass). My thoughts are at this point that I really like Ainge, he compliments the running game. Schaeffers scrambling and running ability is awesome but if we're gonna run the ball we already have a stacked backfield. Only time will tell.

Offensively I really like the improvement of Munoz. Seems to be more grounded this year. Our protection still isn't the best. We welcome all thoughts! Hope your BIG ORANGE NIGHT was as great as mine! That Dorsey (#10) kid from UNLV is a speedy MOFO!

If you combined them both into one QB, he'd be absolutely unstoppable. That being said, I think they each bring a lot to the table. Schaeffer brings the great improvisation factor with his legs, plus designed plays such as the QB draw and rollouts that utilize his mobility. Yet, Ainge shows a very good deep ball, accuracy, and shows a ton of poise in the pocket. Neither one made any big mistakes tonight. Schaeffer really bounced back well following the fumble and the blitzing in the first possession.

The bottom line is, frankly, if the running game continues to be as efficient as it was tonight, then it doesn't matter who we have back there. When it comes down to picking one or the other though, I think we'll see which one is for real when we go into hostile territory (UGA, Alabama, etc).

Amen . . .

The QBs will get the press, but what I liked was the way Houston, Riggs, Larkins and Davis were all running over people, breaking tackles and hitting the holes with authority. I know it was UNLV, but I haven't seen us run that physically against anybody in a long, long time.

I know we gave up some yardage on defense, but I don't think anyone thought it was going to go that well.

The defense did look a little shabby tonight, but I think we did alright, that little number 10 dude gave us some fits though.

Hey Lady....Thanks for the input but I personally don't believe that either will thrive if they have to look over their shoulders all season long. I mean I thin you need to eventually pick one and let him learn from his mistakes so he becomes a better player..JUST MY 2 CENTS!

Really good Debut but I want to see how they perform against the UF's, UGA's and Auburns before I have to pick.

I think you can bet on that. Also Crompton is suppose to be as good or better, talk about an embarrassament of riches.

You can never be too rich. Isn't that what they say?

Damn...I go to the bathroom and there are an extra 5-6 posts, isn't it late enough for you all! I thought I could get a few of posts in while eveyone one else is sleeping. Guess that's not the case. MUHAHAHA!

I feel that Crompton will go elsewhere if either Shaeffer or Ainge flourishes, I mean it's only a verbal! LOL

This is a good problem to have. Both were very impressive but I give the edge to Ainge.I can't believe that our coaches were able to make this work even against UNLV. For this year I believe that 2 QBs can work because neither is yet a leader. This is similar to what Trev Alberts said. However, I don't usually agree with him. We seemed to be fairly consistent in switching every 2 series or so. I would like to see us go eventually with Ainge but keep Shaefer as the wild card to keep defenses off balance. I wouldn't want to switch them in the same drive because of the center exchange.

I dont know what it is but I really like Schaeffer. I have been saying that since the start and after seeing him run..........he's the man!!!!! Ainge is good and I hope we play both for a while. I think it will help with UF, UGA, and the Barners!!!!! In the end though, I think Schaeffer will come out on top!!!!! :good:

  I knew you were a closet Gator fan!

I really like the Schaeffer kid...while they both bring a lil something different to the table, I think he is UT's future and I think Ainge will transfer to Oregon or BYU...especially with Crompton coming in next yr!

I was really impressed with both. In picking which one you like better I really think it depends on which "type" of player you prefer. Both did very well imo.

That said, neither saw much pressure last night. When that happens they will probably look a little more like freshman.

Yup...you'll see what they are made of at the UF game. Pass that test and the Vols will have a very bright future!

Even if we pass that test we still have the "first road game" test after that.
