Choices are down to Ole Miss, Wisconsin, and N.C. State.

Pardon my ignorance, but didn't Brent make a pledge saying he wouldn't attend another school in the SEC? I do wish him the best of luck, and look foward to following the next step in his career, but I seriously hope he picks Wisco or N.C. State.

Anybody heard anything solid?

I read he was thrilled with O and his staff. They've recruited some decent talent this year. I'd rather him go to Wisconsin but not sure he'd make that cold trip.

unfortunately Scout and Rivals aren't much of a help b/c Rivals says that it's a deadheat between Ole Miss/NCST but yet College of Sequoias OC says it's a deadheat between all three on Scout. i personally think he'd benefit more @ WI but time will tell. Wolfpack and Rebel fans are both convinced he's coming to their schools whereas Badger fans are hopeful but ready for anything.

I don't think it was a pledge--I believe it was a condition of release. IIRC UT released him to sign with any school not in the conference or on UT's schedule. If he meets those conditions, he can play without any extra penalty, meaning he would only have to sit out one year (last year.) If he did not meet the condition, he would have to sit another year (which I believe he could redshirt, leaving him 2 years of eligibility remaining, 2007 and 2008.)

That conditional release is pretty common with transfers.

The release conditions don't apply because he went to a junior college. He can sign with anyone, without penalty.

I personally hope he signs with Ole Miss, because he is a very overrated QB. He is not overrated as an athlete. Great athlete. But, his QB skills are well below average and he doesn't have the work ethic in the film room to improve them. I want to see him line up opposite the UTK defense.

Thanks for the clarification. It makes his whole saga make a lot more sense.

Seeing as how Ole Miss is not on UT's schedule for the next few years the only way he could play agaisnt the Vols would be an Ole Miss - UT SECCSG.

I don't think we have to worry about that.

Ole Miss is having a pretty good recruiting year so far but I do not see them catching LSU and Auburn anytime soon so I tend to agree with you that they will probably not be in the SECCSG in 2007.

I don't think we have to worry about the other half of that equation either.

Ole Miss is fine by me... UT doesn't play them in the next two years. unless they somehow meet in the SECCG.

I'm sure the day he left Knoxville he was dreaming of running out that tunnel in Oxford.

We needed Brent. He was a young athlethic QB that could have guided us to a better season than what we had. We are making bad decisions too often now.

No doubt he would have been useful last year . . . but we can't make someone want to play at Tennessee.

I don't want to get into the whole Schaefer discussion again, but it was Brent making bad decisions.

He is a kid and did make mistakes. He is paying for that now. Some get caught and some don't I guess. He had many chances though.

Lady in Orange we were born in sin :devilsmoke: , so how can you say that ? And if you dispute that, then you're calling Jesus Christ a liar and I know you're not a blaphemist, so we will disregard the I never did a foolish thing in my life bid.
