Does kicking Nuke and Edwards off open two more scholarships? Were we already limited?

Im fuzzy on the rules. Please help!

We can take 2 EE to make up for only signing 23 last year. Then we can sign 28 more, but we can only enroll 25 of those 28.

It won't matter either way because both of them will leave the school. They will look for some other school to play for if they don't get jail time.

Doesn't open up any new schollys...all it does for us is allows us to take the 25 max schollys for next year...because we won't be over the 85 roster limit....

and we can sign 30 players in feb. but only bring in 27 scholarship players for the fall......27 because we only signed 23 last year and are able to backcount 2 for ee's this spring...

I wish they never came out with this stupid limit. It all because of ole piss trying to sign like 40 last year. We could easily sign 35 if rule wasn't there

The signing rule doesn't matter. It has always been 25 players each year that can receive a scholarship.

Didn't they put this rule in to limit the practice of coach's bringing more players than they could have on the roster and then weed them out? Some of those practices left students athletes as just students and sometimes no scholly. ESPN did one of their expose's a few seasons ago, if I remember it right.

I undrstand, the limit of sholarships, but I think a new coach to a program , should be given some slack, to be able to somewhat reload the squad (as a result of transfers etc.). Possibly a max of 32 , the first 2 years??? In theory , it could take a couple of years to play catch up and have a full scholarshipped team, unless you reward walkons

Seems kind of unfair if the kids were dismissed for good reasons. Basically the rule keeps your numbers down no matter what it seems like. We've lost like 21 players due to injury and dismissal, surely they'll let them recover some of those scholarships you would think.

The way I understand it. There is a certain point at which you can present a scholarship to a walk-on without counting against your recruiting class. I don't know the specifics of this rule though...

that hits schools every year. some schools without coaching changes can and do lose players every year. no way that can be consider at jsut a coaching change level. We are likely to have 8-10 players nto return next year that are eligible to return. How long would you allow a school to restock?

here is the way things stand as of right now.

we have 79 scholarship players (I jsut learned Cory Sullins is on scholarship).

we have 18 seniors scheduled to leave (Rogers has appealed for a 6th year and could return).

assume all 18 leave that puts us at 61 scholarship players for next season.

That means there is only room to sign 24 players to LOI's if all 24 got in and not one of the 61 returnees left. But, we will sign more than 24 so that means there will be other players scheduled to return who don't. (Berry being 1).

We expect to sign 27 that can get in. 2 will be early enrollees and be back counted to 2009 class. 25 will enroll in the fall of 2010. that means at least 3 of the returners must leave before August.

I expect 8-10 of the returnees to leave before fall for various reasons.

Hope that helps.
