This is by no means a marquee game in week 2 action, but it is the grand opening of Science Hill's brand new Steve Spurrier Field at Kermit Tipton Stadium. For those Science Hill alumni that frequent the board, I'll post some pictures following the game.

I am from Johnson City, however I now reside in Denver, CO. I will be in town next week as I am going to the Oregon game. I want to see that new stadium at Science Hill. They play Morristown West....I think that game is slated as Homecoming. I also see SHHS has a new coach. They have a great start thus far.

SHHS's new coach is legit.... rebuilt Sullivan South and will do the same for Science Hill. I went to Volunteer and just feel bad for what is probably going to be another bad year for them...

Dobyns Bennet is the only High School team in East TN worth watching. DB would whoop both them teams.

TN HS football doesn't compare with HS football when compared to GA, FL, LA....or even SC

Nobody is arguing that fact....however, as good as DB is, they cannot hold a candle to competition in Middle and West TN.

This^ I still Remember Oak Ridge putting a hurting on them back in i think 2001 or 2002? They are good during the season, but choke when it comes to playoffs...

I think in the next 10 years you're going to see Science Hill become the perennial power in NET. This is Stacy Carter's first year and you're already seeing vast improvement. My hope is SH becomes productive enough to send a player or two to Knoxville every few years. It's been a few years since Aubrayo Franklin.

Science Hill along with Dobyns Bennett have always seemed to have powerhouses in football or basketball in upper East Tennessee. The "Big Orange" from Betsy High always wanted the beat SHHS, D-B and Bristol. I remember when Spurrier was at SHHS. He lettered in 4 sports-baseball, basketball, track and football.

I probably agree with you there but Texas or California may have all of those beat.
One local team -Cocoa beat one of the top 5 high schools in the country in Texas by less than a TD and are only ranked 12th. They have 3 wins with all of those coming from schools outside tbe state of Florida. They had to travel to beat a team in Pennsylvania and then to Texas to beat a hightly ranked team in the country. That say a lot about Cocoa. They have won 2 straight titles in Florida-2008 & 2009.
