will be racing on Sundays in the near future.

i'm curious to see how the good ole boy NASCAR fans react to him. they're about 10000 miles different from each other.

I have been following his career since Formula Mazda, and am not at all surprised by his success. I think his run tonight at Bristol validates his oval track ability. If you can run well here, you can anywhere. He got the royal shaft in F1. I expect him to do well in cup whenever he gets the chance. As far as getting along, it is different today in NASCAR with so many drivers from all disciplines of racing. A driver gets respect by his driving ability, and Speed should not have a problem.

i agree.

i think he can add to the diversity of NASCAR as well. but the average NASCAR fan isn't as adapt to change as quickly. i'm afraid there might be some who overlook his talent for his designer clothes and manicures/pedicures. some tend to be critical of that they don't understad.

there was a good article in ESPN the mag about him a few weeks ago... talked about how he was a celebrity over in F1 with red carpets, champagne, girls, etc.. also how his F1 team wanted him gone so he talked to his Red Bull guys and was testing in Talledega a few weeks later.. definitely different, and cocky.. actually maybe a more likeable version of Kyle Busch

I think Scott Speed will be a good addition to Cup. I'm glad he is doing it the right way. Starting off in the trucks is a good way to go. Four open wheel guys tried to jump straight to Cup this year and none of them have shown that they were really ready. I know that it would be hard to go from the top of another form of racing to the bottom of NASCAR, but it is 2 diffrent worlds. Speed has run in ARCA and Trucks and done well. LOL to him.

I'm a huge Scott Speed fan. I bet we'll see him in for Almendinger in Cup by the end of next season.

Just imagine if Michael Shumacher came to NASCAR. In all honesty, NASCAR has gotten more sophisticated in recent years. The "old school" NASCAR is never going to accept the open wheel boys anyway. As far as Speed is concerned, he will be successful and probably won't give a rats azz whether the rednecks like him or not.

I fell in love with Speed after he won at Dover holding off the likes of Hornaday and Sprague with older tires. That was impressive.

I'm hearing we may see Speed in a cup car before the season concludes. Expect to see him in a Red Bull(#84)car at Dega.

That could all come down to where they stand in owners points in October. I'm still wondering who Speed will drive for next season and beyond. BDR or RBR?
