50 5* recruits in the updated rankings???

Wow, that's just silly. The 5th star is reserved for players who are potential program changers. Even Rivals gives away too many at 25'ish.... but 50, c'mon!!!

No wonder people point to so many 5-star busts. If you go by Scout, yeah.... sure......

Going to ESPN for recruit info is like going to Mel Kiper for a first round pick. Just makes no sense.

Yeah, 50 5-start recruits is laughable. Probably less than 1/3 of those really deserve the fifth star.

I honestly wouldn't put a cap or a "rounded off" number to it, like the services seem to do..

I'd say a 5* player is someone who is almost guaranteed to make a major impact. I would say obvious EXAMPLES this year (off the top of my head):

Ronald Powell, Seantrel Henderson, Kyle Prater, Sharrif Floyd, Lamarcus Joyner, etc...

I could probably give 5-stars to roughly 10-12 players this year. Next year could be different...

He played fairly well in the USAAB but he didn't do too well during the week. He basically was being scouted at the practices and lost his 5th star before the game was even played. He would've had to made quite a few plays in that game to keep it.

I thought rivals had 55 ***** star guys last year? Forgive me if I'm wrong.

They had 33 last year which is just a few above avg for them. It looks like they usually have about 28 or 29 5 star players.

I really don't get why scout, on the other hand, is so liberal with their 5 star rankings. It seems to me like they give 5 stars to the top two players at each position other than Punter and Kicker
