Would like to, one of the downsides of moving so far away from knoxville though is not being able to make these things. Anybody know if it will be streamed?

For those that hadn't seen, pitchers against Belmont

Zach Grotz: 1-2 innings
Andrew Lee: 2-3 innings
Peter Lenstrohm: 2 innings
Bret Marks: 2
Hunter Martin: 2-3 innings
Drake Owenby: 2-3 innings
Kyle Serrano: 2-3 innings

SN: Going back over fall practice schedules, looks like Hunter Martin has been given every chance to impress the coaches from the very start. Hope we don't have to force two freshman into the weekend rotation (Serrano and Martin), but they may have some of the best stuff on the team.

If so, so be it. Let the best players play. Looking forward to seeing this team in action.

It won't be streamed, there are fall sports going on that take priority.

How did the scrimmage go? I saw a picture and it looked like a lot of people were there but I haven't heard how we played. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Not at the game, but per UT baseball twitter we are up 10-1 in the 7th inning. Owenby struck out six in three innings of work. Sounds like Price and Senzel are having big games offensively

Vols win after Andrew Lee shuts out the 9th.

Would appreciate any updates from those that were there.

Just got back from the game.

The starting line up was:

Scott Price - RF
Simcox - SS
Maddox - 2B
Stewart - LF
Senzel - DH
VJax - CF
Nate Maggio - 1B
Jordan Rogers - 3B
Tyler Schultz - C
Owenby - P

General Observations...

The crowd was better than I expected it to be, and for the first 6 innings or so the weather was perfect, got chilly later but not too bad.

There were 5 scouts there, radar guns and stop watches in hand. I sat behind them about 3 rows and peaked at the guns when in use.

Owenby hit in the low 90's and I saw one pitch clock at what I thought was 95. He gave up three hits I believe. He also had a bad throw over to 1B that moved a runner from 1B to 3B. His second and third innings were much better, unfortunately the scouts weren't using their guns for those innings. Other than the rocky start, he looked great!

Hunter Martin came on to pitch in the fourth, looked like he was hitting mid eighties, think I saw 84, 86 for example. He had at least 4 K's in his 3 innings of work. looked pretty solid.

Serrano came up in the 7th and the radar guns came out in force. What follows is the MPH of all but his last pitch of the inning.

89, 92, 91, 83, 82, 93, 91, 91, 92, 9?, 9?....it was a three up, three down inning.

As was mentioned, he had a rough go of it in the 8th, he walked the lead off batter, K's the next, next batter HBP, K's the next. So with 2 on and 2 outs he gives up an RBI single, a 2 run triple and an RBI double. He also threw a bad ball trying to pick at 1B too.

I missed the first batter Lee faced. However, he looked like he was really slinging it. Maybe because I was on the 3rd base side at that point and not behind the plate, but he looked like he was throwing harder than anyone, of course by then, the scouts were packed up as best i could tell. Closed it out 3 up 3 down.

Price looked great at the plate, not sure of his final line, but he had two singles and a home run.

The Maggio kid is big, hard to believe he's a frosh. Got work to do at the plate, he drew a walk and got K'd twice, he also had an E playing 1B.

Schultz looked good behind the plate, he had a nice pick off as well. Don't have his numbers, but I know he had at least one single, and he ground into a dbl play once.

AJ had a solid day, a nice SAC bunt. I noticed the scouts seemed to pay attention to him when he was at bat. He got picked off trying to steal second once.

As mentioned, Houser put one over the wall. In addition, Youngblood, Bily, Lance and Wormsley got into the game late.

Be glad to discuss if folks have questions.

Overall, the team looked good and played with enthusiasm. GBO!

Could not go after all. Began a new job this week and spent the day getting stuff squared away including the new home office.

I feel like less of a fan now.

Thanks thats was an awesome recap. THe coverage from UT sports has been terrible for this. Their twitter gave updates only at the top of the innings, it was brutal. Your recap was far better than anything they said. Out of all of that I am really suprised at how slow Martin was throwing. Perfect game had him topping at 93 so usually you sit at high 80's or 90 isn. Good to see otherwise.

Question: How did the JUCO pitchers look? Peterson is one of them, cant remember the other

On Martin...I may have caught the guns on a change up for all I know.

I'm glad there's some folks interested, this time of year UT has fall sports going on and they take precedent I s'pose. Still...If you're gonna have it, might as well maximize it, put up the stats, interview some folks....If we want more coverage we have to prove to them there's legit interest, it's on the baseball fans as much is it's on them. JMO, GBO!

It wasn't a game, but a practice, so covering it like a game that counts isn't something I would expect.

The person that covers baseball for UT does football as well, so I'm sure he was in Alabama with the team.

You also have to consider that maybe the coaches wanted the limited information out there for a variety of reasons.

2 years ago they had it live on UTsports tv and all. That is why my expectation was high. And Serrano has open practices for public. He doesn't care for ppl to come watch

The WCU game two falls ago was not broadcast live online. You're mistaken on that one. There was no coverage for that one either.
