Clausen may not have much of an arm but he's obviously a great game manager. By the stats it looks like he's taking what the defense gives him while Ainge may be trying to force it and make plays when they're not there.

But I feel good about either one. :matrix:

16 throws and 91 yards is sayin he's relyin on those tiny 4 to 5 yard passes

Moving the chains and not turning the ball over should be the priority. That way you set the defense up for big plays IMO. :cross:

So what is up with Britton and the 37 yard average? Was it situational or is that as far as he can boom them right now? If that's all he has then our defense better get ready or our offense better score all the time.

I'm sure that Britton will come along and all, but seeing his stats are making me a bit nervous.

Is that you attempt to try and make me feel better? :p

Britton's average in each scrimmage has went down.

Hefney is the punt returner

Kick returner is still up in the air

IMO as far as QB goes either way we are in good shape it's just a slight game plan adjustment will need to be made for each of the 2. When Clausen is in you will see alot of "ball control" type play calling. What 14-16 91yds. tells us is that Clausen is doing a good job in getting the ball to his receivers and with the receivers UT has thats not a bad strategy. With Ainge having the bigger arm is a higher risk-higher reward type thing. It may end up being a situational decision as to who the QB is with both of them getting PT. As far as Colquitt goes, whats not showing up on the stat sheet is hangtime and field position on the punts. I'd rather have a 40 yd punt with a 4 second hangtime than a 50 yd punt and 3 second hangtime thats returned for a TD. Its all about net yds. Just my :twocents:

Of course, a 50 yard knuckle ball with a 4 second hang time is always preferable.

Can Britton kick the funny ball?

What I don't feel good about is Punting

Averages can be decieving. He may have had some directional punts plus short punts to piin them inside the 10. Dont read into that too much. His last name is Colquitt. We'll be ok. Trust me.

Coach Fulmer "We got what we intended to get out of the scrimmage and that was to extend them some with different situations, make it like a ballgame. We wanted to have kicking situations, substitutions, the 25-second clock -- and with all those things I was really, really happy."

I think we are fine. :twocents:

I hope that the carries Riggs got were ultra-conservative; 16 for 36 isn't quite a Heistman-style average. That's quite a few touches, too, if we're trying to protect him?

You have to remember though, he won't be playing the Tennessee front 7 every week in the real world.

He may not face a front like that all year.

That's my plan, at least. :D

It is clear to me by the statements coach made that they did quite a bit of situational plays.
