Sean Penn Meets Chavez in Venezuela - MSN Movies News

Chavez met privately with the 46-year-old actor for two hours Thursday, praising him as being "brave" for urging Americans to impeach President Bush.

"In the name of the peoples of the world, President Bush, withdraw the troops from Iraq. Enough already with so much genocide," Chavez said before an auditorium packed with his red-clad supporters

Are you kidding me?

Chavez said he and Penn discussed the question of "why the (U.S.) empire attacks Chavez so much," saying Venezuela's oil wealth is a key reason.

He also said Washington is "afraid that the people of the United States will learn the real truth" about the situation in Venezuela, citing his social programs for the poor.

"If the people of the United States, those millions and millions of poor people ... if that nation realizes what is truly happening here, there would be a revolution in the United States," Chavez said, eliciting applause from Penn

I love how he used the words genocide and empire.

I want Penn in the octagon!

Let the man speak. The more people like Penn say crap like this the more foolish they look. He makes a great fundraising topic in donor solicitation letters on the Right. He can help conservatives raise money.

letting him speak is one thing, having a media that's more than willing to give him an outlet is another.

Penn didn't have much to say about Chavez's brutal repression of opposition politicians, just like Cindy Sheehan. A couple of political whores looking for attention and not caring how hypocritical their choice of venue makes them.

I assume this was carried on State run TV and there was no counter-point offered? :p Maybe Chavez will start showing Penn's movies to make sure his people know what kind of guy he is.

maybe. I don't recall Ann Coulter traveling to Australia, Israel or some other strong US ally during the Clinton administration's illegal war in Bosnia and engaging in seditious activity.
