SEC and SEC teams need to really reconsider our scheduling moving forward. SOS means nothing to the committee. SEC goes 10-5 OOC with multiple marquee wins and gets 1 out 4 spots while the Big 10 does nothing OOC and gets 2 in.

We need to schedule the minimum amount of conference games and then fill it in with cupcakes if we want the best chance possible of making the CFP. It will give us more home games too.

Nah. Keep scheduling strong and simply beat the teams in front of you. No one wants to watch UT beat North Texas.

Point made, but won't really matter with the new 12-team playoff format in 2024.

No worries, Georgia is about to expose the Little Ten.

I absolutely want to watch TN beat north Texas if it means TN is in the playoff. Op is absolutely right. There is zero reason to schedule tough OOC games given all the committee cares about is the number of losses by your name.

Agreed. From a strategic perspective, it makes zero sense to schedule harder games if the goal is CFP. But many fans are convinced the only "right" way to compete for championships is to do it the hard way. Even though SOS has never been printed on the CFP trophy or adjacent to the final rankings.

It would only matter if Tennessee could've not scheduled SC....

Going to 12 we no longer have to have 1 loss or less.

Or, some fans just want to watch better games. Going to 12 you can have 2 losses and still make it.

You still get SEC games and those are the best teams top to bottom in the nation.

Better OOC games are not on par with championship games.

I still wonder what happened to us against SC. I know we got our butts handed to us, but why? Only game besides AL this year we had a total defensive collapse, not even GA. Guess it was just a game where their offense played their A++ game, and our defense played our F- game. Still an unexpected terrifically great year with just one real blemish on our record.

I don’t disagree with that but I do love seeing us get to play teams like Oregon, Oklahoma, Pitt and so on.

According to the lack of respect of the strength of schedule and only only 1 sec team in the playoff, it's harder to win the SEC title than the natty.

What schedule is harder?
GA, Al, and LSU
Or
Mich, TCU and OSU

There will still be a number 13 team. Better make sure you have no more than 2 losses.

Conference winners automatically get in.
CFP committee fills out the rest but your odds and arguments become less of an issue.

Yup, wants the point.? All the committee cares about is the eye test. They obviously don’t dive in and take into consideration sos.

The easier you schedule, the fewer opportunities to trip up, the better your odds of being included in the 12.
