I’m more than sure. Young is A MUCH better QB and it ain’t close.
The statistics simply do not backup your statement, as I will show at the bottom.
Obviously, Young has more potential and was, over much of the 2021 season, a better QB than Bennett. He didn't play better than Bennett when it mattered the most, and that's truly been the case again in 2022.
Bennett has been the beneficiary of 6 years of eligibility and growth, while Young is just 3 years removed from high school. If Young somehow remained healthy and was granted 6 years to play college football, then by that point his mental development and physical skills would potentially rank at an all-time level.
Bennett has been able to play above his own arm talent because of his mental recognition on the field. He's played 6 years of CFB.
Bryce Young's 2021 Heisman Year:
2021 Bryce Young
547 pass attempts
8.906 ypa.
QB rating 167.5
TD for every 11.638 attempts
2021 Stetson Bennett
287 pass attempts
9.972 ypa
QB rating 176.7
TD for every 9.896 attempts
1 National Championship
Bennett's stats if Georgia had allowed Bennett to throw the ball as much as Young? 5454 yards 55 TDs compared to Young's 4872 yds and 47 TDs
I do realize this is a little bit like saying if a hitter had 45 hits in only 100 at bats that he would easily have 200 hits if given 500 plate appearances. The numbers actually suggest Bennett regressed in 2022, but he still has a higher ypa than Young 8.670 vs 8.376.
Bennett has also won 3 more games than Young in 2022. So there's that.
