Good Gosh!!! SC looks horrible. Turnovers by Garcia 4 (so far) USC finally gets 1 back for a touchback. Geez....Why is Spurrier staying with this guy?

Because the other 2 QBs he has are no better and have performed just like this in other games...they seem to take turns at looking horrible....dont feel sorry for the ole ball coach one bit...:p

Spurrier is becoming more and more like Fulmer with the product that he is putting on the field. He is not going to be able to turn South Carolina into the competitor that everyone expected.

I've claimed for years that Spurrier is the most overrated coach out there. How he has basically been given a pass by the media with the "Ole Ball Coach" thing is beyond me. Meyer has a shot at more NT's in only a handfull of seasons at FL than Spurrier had in his whole tenure and Spurrier's done nothing noteworthy since leaving there.

He might want to retire soon if he wants to keep much of his legendary status.

Spurrier built Florida's dynasty. Of course it was his alma mater and he had a product to sell. He was over matched in the NFL. And he can not change the culture of football at USCe.

Spurrier built Florida's dynasty because he had an abundance of in state talent that he could recruit fairly easily without having to give up too much of his golf time. I've honestly never considered Steve Spurrier to be a great coach, he did the same thing in the 90's that Fulmer did when we won the NC. He simply out talented everybody else. That's no longer an option in today's college game and that's why Spurrier can't turn usc around, and that's why Fulmer "lost his magic" and got canned.

it just occurred to me that UT is the only SEC East team not in a bowl game.

Here's to a better 2009 :toast:

No he isn't, and that makes his record at UF look increasingly like the talent level was more impressive than his coaching, even though he is a good coach. Urban Meyer also has put Spurrier's coaching at Florida into better perspective. SS apparently thought he had the golden touch and ability to do it again at SC, but he chose the wrong place, and he isn't going to last much longer.
