SEC bowl projections: Week 6 - SEC Blog - ESPN

Please tell me how a 3-3 Vandy team who just got trucked by Missouri is still listed as heading to a bowl game when they have UGA, Texas A&M, and UF has their next three games. They will be 3-6 having to win out vs KY, TN, and then Wake Forest. I think our road is easier to 6 wins than theirs is.

. . . They will be 3-6 having to win out vs KY, TN, and then Wake Forest. . . .

I assume he sees that happening.

If Neyland is anything like it was Saturday night, it'll be a tough road for Vandy - especially if Tennessee needs the win to bowl qualify. CBJ might not "get it" to the degree some think, but I am pretty sure he gets it well enough to know he won't be long for this world if he loses to Vanderbilt. He'll have them ready.

People still aren't convinced that UT can actually get the W. We're playing hard for all four qts now, but we still haven't snatched victory from a quality opponent. Beating USCe would change so much.

I guess I should have added that I can understand not putting TN in there because of where we are at being 3-3 with USC, Bama, etc still left on the schedule but you can't tell me that you think Vandy is a sure 6 win football team either.

Everyone's on Jimmy Franklin's jock right now. After Vandy loses 7 or 8 games this year they won't be.

I think it's because we have Mizzou (who is playing lights out), Bama, USC and Auburn (who's no slouch this year either) plus Vandy (looking more like a W for us but who knows) and Kentucky, which may be the only game UT will actually be favored in.

So we have to win 3 of those, which won't be easy.

It's a tough road to 6 wins for us. I do think we'll there.

Would not be surprised if we get 6 wins and STILL don't get a bowl. :banghead2:

Vanderbilt
Currently 3-3 (0-3)
Finishes 5-7 (1-7)
Vs Georgia -- L 28-42
At Texas A&M -- L 31-49
At Florida -- L 17-28
Vs Kentucky -- W 28-24
At Tennessee -- L 24-31
Vs Wake Forest -- W 24-21

Tennessee
Currently 3-3 (0-2)
Finishes 7-5 (4-4)
Vs South Carolina -- W 28-21
At Alabama -- L 14-31
At Missouri -- L 21-31
Vs Auburn -- W 42-31
Vs Vanderbilt -- W 31-24
At Kentucky -- W 42-21

Here's how I see both seasons playing out. I think Jame Franklin the QB is going to have his way with our defense, especially since Mizz is the leading rushing team in the conference. But I really think we can win the USCjr game coming off of a bye week. And after consecutive losses to Alabama and Mizz, these boys will be pissed off and win out to go bowling.

Vandy's schedule is rough. I dont see any way around them going 0-6 in the SEC before playing Ky which might give them a hell of a time too. Ky has been very unpredictable this year. 25-28 vs USCjr?

James Franklin (the douche) takes himself out of consideration for any other jobs ATM, and stays on at Vandy for another year, and all Vols fans and Mr. Hurd smile at another chance to whip dat azz.

I guess I'd take it.

But, I REALLY hate the thought of losing to Mizzou again. Half my neighbors and co-workers are alums. I so don't want to hear that crap again this year. I know it's selfish, but I have to admit I'd trade the Cocks for Mizzou any day of the week.

Bowls hate us!.

Odds of that happening: 1,000,000 to 1.

There are maybe a dozen football programs in the nation that any bowl game will beg to have. These programs all have one valuable commodity in common: a large fanbase willing to travel. Tennessee is one of those programs. If we get six wins, we're going to a bowl. Honestly, many of them would take us at 5 wins, if they could.

with all the undefeated teams so far - and not many upsets - each conf could have an undefeated team --- BCS playoffs a year too late

Oh, I bet SLV. That'd be like when I worked in South Carolina for 3 years and we lost two of three times...

Check their schedule out...they are about to enter the SEC meat grinder. Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and then UT...with no off week breaks.

I agree. We go bowling, Vandy does not. They have to come to our house this year. :)

The jackass talking heads were all over Franklin's jock talking him up for the USC job on College Game Day Saturday.

ESPN Bloggers are just backing their guys.

Franklin is toast in Nashville. Other SEC teams are going to catch up to him and that rape case isn't going away.

I'm not sure we're really so much a "part of the meat grinder" again yet.

If anything's working in their favor during that stretch though, those last 3 are all straight games in Columbia.

I'm lucky living in UNC territory. No one dogs me about anything UT and everyone here hates USC so it works out.

TL:DR One of the better computer ratings has us, but not Vanderbilt, making a bowl. But it's very close for both teams.

Massey computer ratings have us getting into a bowl, but barely.
Massey Ratings - University of Tennessee Volunteers

South Carolina (54% L) 28-30
@Alabama (98% L) 10-38
@Missouri (85% L) 24-38
Auburn (55% W) 31-28
Vanderbilt (71% W) 35-28
@Kentucky (68% W) 33-27

I have to agree on the SC, Alabama, Auburn, and Vanderbilt games. Those projections seem reasonable.
Missouri, I think, is a bit overrated (the computers love them!) and will come back to earth against tougher teams. At least I hope.
Surprised that we're only 68% over Kentucky. I think that's too low.

Of course, these rankings are based on the whole season and if we keep playing like we did last week, that changes everything.

Vandy barely misses out, based on the current projections.

We will come out on top this time against South Carolina. I think we go on to beat Mizzou and Auburn as well. We're giving James Franklin(Mizzou QB)too much credit. He's solid, but he's not unstoppable. Mizzou is about to drop some L's on their record when they get thrown into the big dogs of the SEC. Where as we will be riding high off of momentum and keep pushing forward.
