SEC Coaches Talk Anonymously About Conference Foes for 2013 | AthlonSports.com

nothing really bad to say about the vols

Opposing coaches size up the Volunteers:

“They will be an up-tempo, no-huddle spread offense that will play with a lot of enthusiasm." …

"Their problems certainly weren’t on offense last year. They were on defense. Butch Jones has hired some coaches with some experience in the SEC, like John Jancek and Willie Martinez, who know the league and know the type of player it takes to be successful in this league." …

"They have to replace so many key players on offense. That will take some time." …

"The offensive line was very good. Losing (offensive line coach) Sam Pittman may hurt more than losing any of the players. He is a really good coach." …

"I always respected what Cincinnati did under Jones. They seemed to be a well-coached team." …

"They have won two SEC games in two years. That is bizarre. It just shows you how fiercely competitive the SEC is — for a school with those resources to have only two wins in two years." …

"Butch Jones is a hit ‘em in the face kind of guy who will try to win back the state of Tennessee in recruiting. You sense he has the right energy for the job." …

"I’m not sure Derek Dooley was the right guy for the job. That defense last year was record-setting bad. They had a top-five offense nationally, but the defense was so bad it carried the team down. That offense was as good as any team we played.”

That one's a little snarky, implying that UT dropped the ball in implementing said resources to the fullest extent. The tone's more than a little haughty. Wouldn't be surprised to learn that one came from Her Highness Spurrier.

We did drop the ball. It's called Derek Dooley.

You guys do realize that these are not head coaches talking about this. These are probably some assistants. I doubt HCs took the time to do this crap.

Besides, Spurrier wouldn't be a puss and say it anonymously. If we all know Spurrier like we think we do, he would say that aloud.

how's that rubbing it in?

It sounds like he's saying we spent $80,000 on a facelift and came out looking like Joan Rivers.

Making a joke at the expense of our facilities is the best thing whoever that was could do as it is still poking at something that exists and is a recruiting tool for UT. Coaches have left, those recruiting classes have come and gone.

He's basically saying "facilities don't buy you wins". No matter how expensive they were. It came across that way to me, at least.

Also, I can see Franklin saying that instead of Spurrier. Spurrier was all over UT when he was @UF and then @USC when UT was still relevant. Now his focus seems to be on UGA and UF. Also, his old age seems to have diluted him a little.

I didn't read it has snarky at all.
Simply put, for us to have everything that we have and only win 2 games shows that we play in the best conference.
Not snarky at all to me but see it how you choose.
