We're 8 games into the season, currently 5th in the East, and had some ugly losses. But mathematically, we haven't been eliminated from the SEC East race yet. Granted, every known star in the cosmos would have to align (and then some), but consider:

We win out. 5-3 in conf.
SCar loses to Miss St and beats Florida. 5-3 conf.
Florida loses to Vandy & SCar and beats Georgia. 4-4 conf.
Georgia loses to Florida & Auburn. 4-4 conf.
Mizzou loses to either Kentucky, Miss, or A&M. 5-3 conf.

Tenn in Georgia Dome on Dec 7.

No, I don't expect this to happen, but I didn't realize it was even a remote possibility on paper until I looked at the schedules.

I think playing Alabama again this year might do more harm than good.

I know things will change with this rivalry, but it really hurts us every year by having to play the number one team, or at least a top five team.

Main reason we have the hardest schedule this year supposedly in college football history.

Besides us winning, this weekend...

Georgia needs to lose to Florida, or else Georgia would *have* to lose to Kentucky on Nov 23, and that's not likely.

SCar needs to lose to Miss St, or else SCar would *have* to lose to Vandy on Nov 9.

This doesn't mean I'm rooting for the Gators. It just means I'm rooting against Georgia. There's a subtle but important difference.

It would be nice to be SEC East champs, even if we had to back our way into it. But the thought of playing Bama again is painful. Saturday's game still stings.

The most reasonable scenario is Missouri losing to either Ole Miss or TAMU, South Carolina losing to Miss. State, Florida losing to South Carolina, and Georgia losing to Florida and Auburn. The only particularly unlikely result is needing Miss. State to beat South Carolina. But, it's unlikely that every bit of that happens and that we win out.
That knocks out UGA, who is one of the teams we lost to, and creates four-way tie, with UT and South Carolina having gone 2-1 against the other tied teams, and Florida and Missouri having gone 1-2. So, UT wins because of our win over South Carolina.

I know it would be nice to make it to the GA dome but lets face it every who makes it is going to have a long day against Bama.

It's still possible but very unlikely.

I'll still hold out hopes that everything will work in our favor and we'll stun the world.

That is very interesting.

While all of these scenarios are unlikely, I remember us backing into an SEC Title game back in 2007 after a blowout loss to Alabama. Go Vols!
