Surely Gasparilla is a made-up name. They had to make up a bowl game for Florida to go to. Their fans started off really mad then started buying up tickets. Enjoy that ish, losers. I hear your opponent's starting QB just transferred out so get ready to print some T-shirts.

The name Gasparilla was born from Jose Gaspar, a pirate who terrorized the coastal waters of West Florida during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Fond of calling himself "Gasparilla," Gaspar and his band of pirates lived a life of seizing and robbing merchant ships off the Gulf Coast until 1821.

If only Mike Leach could’ve gotten Miss State to the Gaspirilla Bowl.

I didn't know Outback's headquarters were in Tampa. I thought, "Wouldn't the American Outback be Tucson?"

Gator Bowl and Las Vegas bowl have the potential to be ugly blowouts. Birmingham bowl has the chance to be sneaky good.

I disagree. The more you think about it though, the idea of a restaurant franchise like that is definitely more of a Florida idea.
My first thought wasn't the restaurant, but what part of the USA approximates the Australian Outback? Of all the bowl sites, I thought Tucson.
EDIT: The Sun Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl predate Outback by a long shot.
